What we learned

1. We have a good kicker just needs work
2. We can play with the big boys
3. We have a great offense
4. Our corners are playing soft
5. We can beat any team if we play as a team

Hoping UT goes something like 10-2 to help legitimize the game (if needed). Either USC is bad or Bama is crazy good. Probably both. Going to stomp UT.

I went back and watched first half, Rubino's first PAT after the first TD was darn close to a miss - same to the right. He looked to me like he just got nerved out of proper technique, I believe he will bounce back quickly.

What I learned was:

Positives:
1. Defense...particularly defensive line, stopping the run, getting pressure
2. we can hang in there with anyone
3. Cox and the running game

Negatives:
1. Question mark at kicker
2. Question mark at QB; Lamb seems to have regressed since his freshman year. He doesn't throw downfield, questionable decisions.
3. Coaching....seemed like year 1 of Satt...hope this isn't a trend. But predictable/bad play calling, bad clock management, disorganization in getting plays called. Not sure if the predictable and overly conservative play calling was a result of not trusting Lamb, but whatever the cause, it was a problem

Question: The scoreboard at Neyland said we had one time out left with 30 seconds left in regulation. The folks who watched on TV say we had two. Anybody know the correct answer?

Honestly if UT plays like that especially the QB they will win 6 games.

To be fair Tennessee was terrible at passing last year as well. The positive is we stopped there so-called great run attack. Also a lot of these negatives you guys are saying were purely part of the game plan. For example, soft coverage was a part of the bin but do not break plan. We also did not throw down field because we did not need to and we needed to milk the clock.

He did in 2014 for Matics. I think it was an overload for him. His leg only has so many kicks. I would hope we don't expand his workload.

We got a mention during the Bama USC game. Announcers talked about the game and said we gave UT all they wanted.

Now I know this would not make that much of a difference, but Critcher did not get the ball all the way spun around on the last field-goal missed by Rubino .

I would agree, provided Rubino comes around. If not, better to be decent at punter and PK than good at punter and nonfunctional at PK.

We were overmatched athletically at every position , each and every position. It's the SEC, which stands for " money is no object"....we don't try to recruit those athletes because we can't get them. Yet. Anyway we played harder and smarter,prepared and game coached better. We missed an extra point,we couldn't find a couple of fumbles,we got beat deep once, once. I'm hoping this game makes us that much hungrier and we take our first Sunbelt championship but it will not be easy.

Lamb played the best he's ever done against P5 competition. His only interception can be chalked up to a phenomenal defensive play. Last year he threw 3 picks in consecutive drives.

The gameplan wasn't set up for him to pass down field, because the coaches know what he can do and what he can't do, with arm strength being his main weakness. Don't know what you mean about questionable decisions other than taking too long to snap the ball.

I fully expect more deep throws when we are playing against less talented secondaries later in the season, likely this Saturday.

That's why I started it with "hoping". We are good for sure but that squad is staring at several losses.

Your negatives are ridiculous. The guy who just set the single season passing TD record at App has regressed? Satt outcoached Butch Jones all night long and his play calling was fine. We were in a position to beat a team with far more talent than us because we were far better coached than they were. The clock management at the end wasn't his fault either. Hopkins should have gotten out of bounds, but I can't really blame him for wanting to get more yardage, those are difficult snap decisions to make. We were half a second from a potential game winning field goal attempt. People who are questioning Satterfield and Lamb after the Tennessee game are absolutely out of their mind. Everything in the second half went their way. Everything. That's the only reason they won.
