MWC jumps to 16 becoming the 6th best football conference jumping the Big East.

That would leave Big East with (8) assuming Navy backs out:

UConn
Temple
Cincy
ECU
Memphis
USF
UCF
Tulane

That would leave CUSA with (12):

Marshall
UNCC
ODU
UAB
S. Miss
FIU
FAU
Rice
UTSA
North Texas
LA Tech

Option A:

Big East take four from CUSA. Remaining CUSA members say screw it let's just take all 8 Sun Belt teams and go to 16.

Option B:

BE takes 4, CUSA takes four, Sun Belt expands taking NMSU, App, GSU, and another 1 to 3 FCS programs (SHSU, Lamar, JMU, Liberty - looong shot).

Another possibility is that the BE does not exist as a footbal conference after 2014. How can you possibly put together a TV contract when you don't know who is going to be in the conference. No TV contract no football. Could happen :?

Cincy and UConn are gone the first chance they get. I'm hearing that if the ACC doesn't call, Cincy would rather go to the MAC than stay in the Big East/Old CUSA. UCONN will eventually get the call from the ACC. Their basketball, academics, and poor football make them a perfect fit.

I don't see the Big East giving up without a fight. The WAC was still fighting when they were down to 2 teams. And the BE commish was quoted yesterday as saying the same thing. Whether it will make a difference is anybodies guess right now but I think they are going to fight hard to stay a conference. Guess we just sit back and wait, same as always.

Assuming SDSU retreats to the MWC like Boise, then the MWC may look to CUSA Texas (+ Tulsa) schools to round out it's membership. If so, I assume CUSA would steal from the Sun Belt...I don't think they are looking for a merger with the Sun Belt. I think CUSA would go after Georgia State, Arkansas State, WKU, and maybe Texas State. This would probably assure us a spot in the Sun Belt, but would it be a good move at that point? I'm pro-FBS for us, and it still may be the best option in this scenario, but it will certainly require a heavy weighing of all information/data before accepting that invitation.

Of course, my prognostication isn't even worth $.02, which is why I give it freely. :D

I don't think there is any chance that Cincinnati goes to the MAC. They've invested too much in separating themselves from all the other in-state FBS competition (aside from Ohio State) to put themselves in a conference with Bowling Green, Kent State, Ohio, Miami (OH), Akron and Toledo. It would probably make more sense but they don't want to view those schools as their athletic peers.
