That article made it seem far from a done deal though, near the end of it, it appears Woody may be wanting to make sure Teachey will get the DC job @ Wofford if he leaves. Apparently Western was after Teachey and he didn't go that route. I rate it as 65-35 Woody comes to ASU.
Re: Nate Woody (Wofford DC) to App?
looks like Ayers is pulling out all the stops to try and keep him, probably offered him more money, more power in the decision making, maybe even hinting that he would have the inside tract for the HC job once Ayers retires. I think one of the factors against coming to App, and Im sure Ayers pointed this out, is the quality of living between Boone and Spartanburg/Greenille. I lived in Spartanburg for 9 years, and as much as I love Boone, it doesnt compare to Spart/Green, in fact, 3 years ago, Greenville was voted in the top ten in the country in terms of quality of living.

It all depends on what you want. He's been in Spartanburg for going on 3 decades and it is a great place to raise a family but for me, the Upstate doesn't compare to the High Country.

The only difference is small town living vs small city living. "Quality of life" is a personal opinion and other than having a few more choices in restaurants and entertainment there really isn't a whole lot of difference.moehler wrote: I think one of the factors against coming to App, and Im sure Ayers pointed this out, is the quality of living between Boone and Spartanburg/Greenille.
Just get Woody to compare the crime rate in the Sparkle City to Boone.

What the heck does that mean? I'm not the only one on here by far who considers JM being forced out.
And what did you mean by "supporting myself" in the other thread to which you haven't replied?
Have you not gotten over your New Year's hangover yet?
JM wasn't fired, his contract was not renewed. That is a FACT. Anything you may think is only your OPINION.
My opinion and a dozen or more who post on this board.

The difference being we wanted to pay him double. Wofford will do so, because they have to. Hope he considers that.ASUGoose wrote:The writer mentions we would double his salary... Looks like wooford might just match us and we could lose out on woody.

Could go either way. We could be a great opportunity for him to further his career. We could also just be simply leverage. Hopefully he isnt looking at real estate price to make his decision. As you can afford twice as much house in the Upstate than you can in the High Country.

True, but double? He had to be getting paid $40-45,000 to be a D-I coordinator at 52 years old. They were taking advantage of him.ASUPATCH wrote:AppinVA wrote:The difference being we wanted to pay him double. Wofford will do so, because they have to. If this is indeed his real salary at Wofford then he was grossly underpaid for his experience. Interesting that the article says he could continue to make a good secure living in Spartanburg with Wofford. Let me say for the record, that salary in Spartanburg is not a good living. I don't know what that writer was thinking when he wrote that statement. Most college grads coming out now make that range, day one, with significant upside in near future. My friend's son, ex-Wofford football player, just graduated this year, first job in Spartanburg area was for more money.

I am just taking a guess at his salary, but I doubt a coordinator makes more than 100k at this level.AtlAppMan wrote:"True, but double? He had to be getting paid $40-45,000 to be a D-I coordinator at 52 years old. They were taking advantage of him."

Could be we are offering in the 150k range because of things that will happen in the near future.
