If it was academics Davidson would have blinded us with ass getting out the door. Please..........
Re: App State to the Sun Belt
You are right....I was just trying to have a little fun with JC. I like the MAC idea and have for a long time. I used to recruit the Ohio schools for teachers for our district. We would visit. BG, Toledo, Miami, Ohio U. Kent State, Arkon, and Ball State (IN). They all reminded me more of us!Saint3333 wrote:Academically App is more like MAC schools, culturally we are more like Belt schools.
The Belt with the two GSU's and WkU (for now) makes more sense financially.
The travel to the MAC would be tough but.....
I probably will not be going much further west than Alabama either in the SB until I retire!
Go APPS!

I don't know how many pages people cried about grey unis, but anyone who did should see what Notre Dame wore against Marquette and forever hold their tongue.

I don't see Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Texas, Oklahoma ect ect having the need to re brand. BTW, don't think for a minute the original Yosef is going away.8993 wrote:Yes, we may have something, but we are rebranding. What's wrong with using something different that what we have? I understand the tradition argument, but we can't always wait for tradition. Just because we are possibly using grey uniforms does not mean that we are ripping off every other school that has had a grey uniform. Having a grey uniform is not like using a blue uniform, or a red uniform. Grey is a neutral color, a mix between black and white. What's so bad about grey? I don't get it. If you think we're losing our identity because of grey uniforms, then you should probably petition Appalachian State for getting rid of the retro Yosef at the end of the year too.bcoach wrote:Well there is no need to come up with something. We have something. We didn't wear jeans and tee shirts last year. As far as grey goes, what the heck does that have to do with our school colors? Maybe we shouldn't have school colors any more. Maybe we could have a different color uni each week. Then we could have both teams come out of the same place and have a contest. See who can guess which team is ours.8993 wrote:If everybody is so innovative and thinks that App State is copying what other universities have already done, then come up with something on your own. Yes, we may (or may not) be getting grey uniforms, but what's so wrong with that? Just because another school has black uniforms, does that mean we cannot? We are evolving to fit the times, and to draw in the recruits and crowds, so that's a good thing to me. Anyways, the grey uniforms usually look really great, and none of them look the same, so I believe that App State can pull them off, while also reinventing them next year while we are doing away with ASU and going solely to App State and Appalachian State.
Something I think should be brought up that is off topic, but does anybody think the MAC is considering inviting App State to join? I'm all for the Sun Belt, but geographically, the MAC would make more sense. I could see App and JMU going in together, if JMU was ready, which I don't think they are.

We might as well go with grey since our younger alumni and students don't know what our colors are anyway.mtnjax wrote:Screw the Grey unis...WHEN ARE WE GETTING ALL YELLOW!!!

This is true and the primary reason JMU & Del aren't interested in the SB.Saint3333 wrote:Academically App is more like MAC schools, culturally we are more like Belt schools.

You do realize that at some point over the last couple of season those teams have worn alternate jerseys. Because we wear a grey jersey a game or two doesn't mean the world will come to an end.

Can't speak for the others, but I can tell you that Georgia has done some experimenting in recent years including black jerseys and most recently a pretty bizarre looking Nike Combat Uni against Boise StateKgfish wrote:I don't see Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Texas, Oklahoma ect ect having the need to re brand. Re: App State to the Sun Belt
It's thread derailments like this that make me glad the out-of-touch with pop culture "old guard" isn't making any uni decisions. When you guys finish your prunes, please, let's hear your opinions on stadium enhancements. We should remove most of the seating, right?

Seeing as it was the old prune eaters who paid for them we will probably leave them there.Gonzo wrote:It's thread derailments like this that make me glad the out-of-touch with pop culture "old guard" isn't making any uni decisions. 81, I totally agree with your last paragraph. As to the previous paragraphs, I couldn't determine which ones were sarcastic. However I think the travel to the MAC schools would be a nightmare fiscally.asutrnr81 wrote:JCline0429 wrote:One reason, bcoach is that we want to be on a level playing field when competing with other schools academically. App State to the MAC... would that be a better fit for us? I know that the Sun Belt move is nearly done, if not already done, but the MAC would be interesting.
REally JC? The real reason the MAC would be a better fit is: (drum roll please)....
The Grey Uniforms would blend in with their gray weather for most of the season and obviously make us more potent offensively because we would be harder to see.
The real reason the SB would NOT be a better fit is: (drum roll please).....
We do not have the professional schools that many of them have.....just from lack of numbers of state universities in their states. The law schools, and med schools can't be too spread out in...and we do not have either!

Leave them there? I said the AARP App fans are the least qualified to judge what sort of fashion 18-22 like, not that they should leave the fan base. I'm aware and appreciative of where the majority of the Yosef $ comes from. I'm young (almost 24) and I give what I can.bcoach wrote: Seeing as it was the old prune eaters who paid for them we will probably leave them there.

I could be wrong, but I think he was referring to the stadium seating that you implied the older alums would want removed.Gonzo wrote:Leave them there?
