Re: Undefeated FBS teams
One mentioned we were former Div II.
There are some on there worried about beating Vandy and they sit as about 15 point favorites in that.

Circling back to the thread title, even though App is 1 of 9 out of 130 programs in the country currently undefeated, there are still 2 voters not putting App in their top 25.

This guy is a p5 fanboy, plain and simple. He has biases against all good G5 teams and has 3 loss P5 teams in. He is a good boy, pleasing his owners by disrespecting the G5.

Re: Undefeated FBS teams
In 1971 we did spend one year in the NCAA College Division, which essentially became DII in 1973. We moved to the SoCon and DI in 1972.
They are technically correct, though I imagine they were talking about our D-IAA years.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

The USC game worries me if they can sniff being bowl eligible, we'll have to bring our A+ game, If they can't get bowl eligible they may pack it in. They played well enough to beat Georgia which says how good they can be, albeit several turnovers.appstate77 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2019 11:12 amAs do I and some are picking us to win. by double figures.......However, Beat Stink, 1-0.

App can do in the Sunbelt what Bosie did in the WAC. We need to do more with our non-conference schedule. At lest two P5s a year (even if that means some five home game years).

Re: Undefeated FBS teams
And if you notice they had Texas, USC, UCF, Boise State, Texas, Wake Forest and Kansas State in the back end of their ballots. Win the next 2 and no doubt those guys will add us.
There are some wide ranging votes for teams after you get to 11-25 range. One voter has SMU at #9 while another has them at #20. Cincinnati ranges from #14 to #23 and Iowa from #14 to unranked.
Nobody has us at 24 and most have us 19-22 range. Only 17 teams are unanimous and it is usually be 17-19 for that. If we win the next two there is no doubt we will be unanimous.
Interesting note on us is that Chadd Cripe is the only voter to have us every week this year and he only has us at #19 while a couple have us at #13.

Re: Undefeated FBS teams
I don't think they pack it in. The team will always feel as players that they can beat Clemson because it is a rival and if they beat Clemson, A&M, and us they are in a bowl. However, realistically they need to beat Vandy or else we all know that is not likely. Georgia and Clemson are both rival games though so you never know.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2019 2:26 pmThe USC game worries me if they can sniff being bowl eligible, we'll have to bring our A+ game, If they can't get bowl eligible they may pack it in. Re: Undefeated FBS teams
I still think they are expecting a loss more because of their coaching staff than their talent. They feel they are 30 points better than us but their coaches are going to blow it. I have news for them. Even with good coaches I don't think they beat us by more than 10 points or so.appstate77 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2019 11:12 amAs do I and some are picking us to win. by double figures.......However, Beat Stink, 1-0.
They have major issues because their AD Tanner is the one who made this mess in general but Muschamp picked bad coordinators and they have done a bad job of evaluating players for the most part. They owe him $22M if they fired him before January 1st. They have a huge mess and now is the time to beat them!
But first we must #BeatGSU

Re: Undefeated FBS teams
The only "P5" opponent in the last 12 years that App played where you can make the argument that App should've won (before the game was played) is Wake Forest. For 10 years App played schools that were winning 10 games a year, not teams like Wake Forest and UNC. In the Coastal, App may not win but they certainly wouldn't be in last.Appster99 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2019 2:07 pmBefore this year it had been 12 years since we beat a P5. I think it will take more than us beating P5s with .500 records for the rest of them to believe what you and I think to be true now - we are a legit Top 25 program. If we don't beat South Carolina they are right. I don't mind earning their respect but I don't think we have done that yet. But I look forward to proving it.ericsaid wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2019 12:54 pmAlmost every P5 school? Half of every P5 conference would view App as a peer on the field. App beat a school who is in the running for the ACC Coastal divthat, and took current number 3 to a 1 point game, and have a chance to beat a school who beat a Top 5 opponent. If App beats South Carolina, I'm not sure how you can justify that statement.Appster99 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2019 9:12 amIf we don't stay undefeated with our SOS, we don't deserve to remained ranked. Almost every P5 school would rather have us on their schedule than their conference foes. That being said, we are good enough to win out and prove our ranking is legit. I think the previous two weeks proved we deserve to be in the conversation, and even this week we didn't play up to our standard and still won convincingly.
On message boards, most USC fans recognize and are now saying that they "hope" to beat App State. Some are lumping App in with Vanderbilt but are quickly called out.

Re: Undefeated FBS teams
Statistics show that G5 teams that beat P5 teams average 7 wins in the season that the victory occurred. The P5 teams on the losing end of those games had an average of 4 wins. Conclusion: a better than average G5 is on par with a below average P5.
