Our run game vs GS run game

Unread post by Apptrain » Thu Oct 31, 2019 3:43 pm

I’m worried the winds tonight are going to make our normally balanced offense as one dimensional as the GS offense. I guess we’ll see if we can win off the run alone. I feel good that our Roof led defense will do well holding them down to maybe under 20, but can we score more than that running the ball without the threat of throwing it? Wind gusts between 25 and 50 are going to make it tough. Thoughts.

Their DLine is pretty banged up. They do have a good second level. Given our speed, we'll be ok.

I think special teams and turnovers may be a factor also.

Well they ran all over us. So many yards after first contact and fall forward for 3 yards 335 yrds rushing. We were embarrassed on both lines of scrimmage. Just a quality old fashioned ass kicking and we call d bull shit plays to try to fool them

The difference in their run game and ours is App’s run game works due to the threat of a pass. With the wind that wasn’t true in the first half. The wind was a huge favor to them.

Not blaming the loss on the refs but why are they taking so long to blow the whistle? We were often stopping their progress after 2 yards and then they’d push and fall for 3-4 more. The only quick whistle was when we stripped the ball away and had a crucial turnover taken away.

I really didn't see it as them being slow on those situations. The problem is that we were making contact but we were not stopping forward progress. It got much better in the 4th quarter...even in the 3rd, but early in the game we were getting dragged.

Bigger, stronger and faster, the last one was a surprise. Couldn’t believe we couldn’t catch those guys on the long runs in the third quarter.
