First BCS program to visit the ROCK?

I think there could be an element of truth in what you are saying regarding Wake/App prospects and recruiting. However, if that was really a concern, why would they (Wake, UNC, Duke, etc.) schedule other FCS schools?

Because those teams are less of a threat. ASU is more prominent and a better team normally. We are someting like the 5th biggest likelihood in the state of winning over them than the others mentioned. I wouldn't schedule us if I were one of the teams you mentioned.

Honest question...what would be the reward for Duke.....the chance of winning? They would be winning over a program newly "inducted" into FBS.

It would be better than losing to Richmond again.

Obviously, I was speaking to the possible rewards for Duke, not us. Sure, I would rather lose to Duke than Richmond, but I'd wager a dollar to a donut that Richmond could have beaten the Blue Devils that year. I'm assuming you are speaking of our loss to Richmond.

Duke gets a chance to beat an OOC FBS team within driving distance of campus. Duke gets thousands of ASU alumni to go to Durham to fill their half-empty stadium. I don't really see any downside for Duke.

I hope we're not getting too excited about playing the likes of Duke. Technically, they're a BCS school, but that's like saying that "technically" Davidson plays Division I football. Beating Duke doesn't move the needle, and as much as I hate to say it, beating UNC or NCState would.
