What we're playing for this year
While searching I came across this tweet from Ian Barnard. I know this year is very hard on our seniors but this shows what kind of kids we have here and the tremendous respect I have for them ending their careers with understanding and pride.

Re: What we're playing for this year
We're losing some tremendous players after this season. They may have not been the most talented, or successful class in App history, but they had heart.
Re: What we're playing for this year
What a great way to put it in perspective, if he is an example of the type of leadership we have on this team, we will not have any problems having the players ready every game.

Re: What we're playing for this year
Here's how I look at it. If a guy like Ian, that is truly affected in a negative way by this decision, can have this type of attitude then what are we all doing still griping and arguing about the move? For all of the crap that gets thrown onto younger generations, sometimes they can actually show some perspective to old heads. Bravo to our players!firemoose wrote:While searching I came across this tweet from Ian Barnard. I would love to see that quote permanently placed somewhere in our athletic facilities. What a great quote to see for all of the future athletes coming to App. I think I have a new favorite player.

Jamal set the tone with his interview with the Appalachian.

The team consensus is overwhelmingly positive. What a great group of young men we're blessed with. This attitude, the strength of the team this year and the chip they'll have on their shoulder should translate into a undefeated SoCon season. Could make things in Athens, Ga veeeery interesting.

Re: What we're playing for this year
I respect that quote by Barnard. That is part why I & the rest of us should truly be proud to be an App State Mountaineer. This season we're playing just for the namefiremoose wrote:While searching I came across this tweet from Ian Barnard. Re: What we're playing for this year
I saw this some time ago and it sticks with me every day. We need to do something special to salute this years Seniors at the first and last home game. I may get a roll out banner done with this quote on it and fingure out how to get it on the field..

Put this on a t-shirt and use the proceeds to fund a scholarship honoring the 2013 & 2014 classes.

YES, that a great idea. Put the quote on the front and a big honking "A" on the back. I will buy at least 7. one for each day of the week.

I've asked my contacts in the athletic department to float the idea of working this into the players intro.

Re: What we're playing for this year
I'm thinking about posting it to Facebook so that the few people who have posted about App having nothing to play for can see things from the players perspective.
Give 'em hell!

Re: What we're playing for this year
I sent a reply back to Ian the day I found that tweet and told him how inspritatual the post was and that everyone I know is behind him and the other seniors 1000%. I told him he was a true sportsman, a gentleman, and was the very essence of quality in a student, athlete, and a person. I wished him the best this year and the years to come and told him I was proud to be an alumni, fan, and supporter of App and it was people like him that made that so.

That banner would be cool to put up for the pre-game Mountaineer walks too.Rekdiver wrote:I saw this some time ago and it sticks with me every day.
