Yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and say Trevor Lawrence would, in fact, have made Duke better.

Re: QB 2021
I would avoid Pedersen. He is a good pass catcher but really not a blocker at all and he is not a fit in our locker room.NavyApp wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 11:21 amI'm with you on the "kid in a candy store" reference. I just pulled up the TE portal and there are a lot of interesting names, to include one who has been a thorn in our side (Pederson). Interesting is it looks like every TE at UT is in the portal which made me chuckle.Appstate88 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 11:16 amAgree with you NavyApp. The transfer portal is like a kid in a candy store right now. How about a TE then. There are some big framed blocking TEs in the portal with several years of eligibility.NavyApp wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 10:48 amI think we are pretty stacked at WR moving forward. Assuming Sutton and Pickney take the outside roles we would have Wells/Horn in the slot which I believe they would both thrive there. Also the talent coming in with this class looks like the real deal, heck Brown could walk in day 1 and be the slot guy. Will be see who shows up as early enrollees. Also personally I am super excited for Lowman, dude just glides, once he focuses on WR I think he will be a star!Appstate88 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 10:42 amI think we should also go after this WR to replace Malik as a Slot receiver. https://247sports.com/Player/John-Dunmore-94688/

Re: QB 2021
Doesn't have to be either/or, but we may be in pretty good shape at DL. We have good depth at NT assuming Earle's injury isn't serious enough to affect next season.Tbatchelor1977 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 11:21 amI would prefer we focus on DL. I could see a transfer DE helping out, depending on how our younger guys are coming along. If the comment about Taylor returning is true, he and Paillant should make a good starting duo.

Re: QB 2021
I think that we peruse the portal for QB (check) and maybe a RB. Other than that, I don’t know that we move on anything else.

Re: QB 2021
I've also wondered about RB. We all know how vital a deep stable is, and as we saw this year...it can get rather thin pretty quickly. I assume we might try to fill 1 RB spot via the portal? And if so, I wonder if there has been any interest in B.J. Emmons? Local kid (Morganton) who was one of the top recruits in the country and didn't pan out at Alabama (after injuries/off-the-field issues), transferred to FAU to follow Lane Kiffin (who helped recruit him at Bama) and finally saw some playing time this season and graduated as well. I imagine he'd love to play one more year in front of family and friends, many of which were never able to travel to see him play, for a variety of reasons.Appstate88 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 11:16 amAgree with you NavyApp. The transfer portal is like a kid in a candy store right now. Re: QB 2021
I know we have some OL coming in as freshman, but since we have 3 Senior guys on the OLine possibly leaving, it may be good to go after a seasoned Lineman too.
But I thought I read somewhere that since we signed 22 guys a week or two ago, that only leaves 3 slots for the maximum of 25, not sure it that pertains to transfers?

Re: QB 2021
We started two underclassmen OL in the bowl game and Hunter is apparently returning. There are a number of guys behind these guys who may be ready to step up, not to mention one or two of the incoming guys being ready. Obviously, the staff has a good idea of who among the returning players is capable of stepping in next year.

Talking about RBs...it makes what Kevin Richardson did all the more impressive. He was very rarely out of the lineup...

Re: QB 2021
My knee jerk reaction is that we should look at a graduate transfer (or junior/senior for that matter since there is no wait this year). That said, I agree with your statement that the coaches know where the need is. We do have a great looking class with 5 potential stud OLs coming in. We also have quite a few Freshmen, Redshirt Freshmen, and Sophomores (only one junior I think) with good size. I would hope some of those guys are ready for the opportunity to step up! Like you said...I trust the coaches to address the needs.hapapp wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 12:15 pmWe started two underclassmen OL in the bowl game and Hunter is apparently returning. I'll walk that back as I just looked at Texas St, they are much much worse, looks like half the team wants to transfer.

Re: QB 2021
So 2 years of eligibility?
2017 RS
2018 Clemson
2019 Clemson
2020 Dook
NCAA has provided an extra year to all players, so 2020 is like it did not count against the eligibility clock

Re: QB 2021
It sounds like he is but have not seen confirmation either way. They think Lindsay might be the most ready but the two from VA also could be. Essek and Ramsey both will need to gain weight and develop but they have great upside as well. Should be fun to see who plays. I would imagine that we see several 2021 signees play as true freshmen.hapapp wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 12:15 pmWe started two underclassmen OL in the bowl game and Hunter is apparently returning. Re: QB 2021
Apparently, might be too strong of a word to describe Hunter's intentions. It has been hinted that he would. No inside info here.
