Exactly...What are you willing to give up? Then more people need to donate to the YC. Not even get season tixs just donate and become a member. Less than 1% of Apps 120,000 living alumni are YC members. That's bad. 10$ a month will go along way even if you got 20% (maybe a high number). Now I sound like a late night info commercial.BeauFoster wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 5:14 pmI’ve got the perfect solution. We all want to win games, so losing and not having networks want us on TV is not an option. Therefore, we should drop back to FCS, play in the SoCon, and have all our regular season games on Saturday’s. I for one can’t wait to get that big mid-October match up against Mercer. The leaves will be changing, 18k in the stands...god it will be glorious.
Jerry Moore used to say “What are you willing to give up?” Maybe some of the folks on here should think about that.

I’ve done that for the last 5+ years. I can’t make many games, but I still donate to Yosef. I try to up my donation each season, too.Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 6:32 pmExactly...What are you willing to give up? Then more people need to donate to the YC. Question: Is any program - save for the elites - in a position to tell ESPN, “yea...nah, we’re good?”
I’m thinking their hands are tied. Can’t exactly tell the mothership we prefer local radio only.

Home Sat games are ideal, Thurs ok once a season for tv, but I dont get Tues or Wed games. Heck, make it Friday night, but no college fb games should be played Tues or Wed. Ever

One more beef. Seems like in the past 25 yrs, App has always had one of their last home games on Thanksgiving weekends. I'd bet this was the case 75% of the time

It's mind blowing that people are upset they can't attend a game in person because they love game days in Boone? Yeah, real mind blowing. Nobody is saying we should move back down, or have a losing program in order to attend more games. We all know both of those things would keep people away anyways. Can't control what the conference does, but to have an OOC game against an old rival while weather is decent in Boone, after we've all been stuck at home for close to a year...that's a crappy move. Don't fault fans for being uspet they can't attend a game in person.

Re: Herd game update - Thursday
Are you going to provide evidence/stats of that exposure, or just avoid it?
Our televised games against P5 schools attract decent amount of viewers, but a typical Sunbelt game or OOC game against Marshall, doesn't. We get those televised P5 games for the same reason the Sunbelt throws us on t.v. a lot... because we are a great team. We start losing and they won't be saying, well App State brand has had so much exposure, we'll throw them on t.v. anyways.

No one needs to share evidence to support that tv exposure is a net positive for our program, because it’s considered common knowledge./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 8:47 pmAre you going to provide evidence/stats of that exposure, or just avoid it?

You’re being the contrarian here, you should supply the evidence you seem to have to support your claim.
A claim that obviously our own Athletic Director, University and literally 130 other FBS programs don’t share.
How about you share that and then we can review and discuss.

New gig as a parent??? Or are you just assuming work is the only reason people can't make week night games?ah59396 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 10:05 pmIf you can’t get a Friday off 6 months from now, you need a new gig./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 8:32 pmIt's mind blowing that people are upset they can't attend a game in person because they love game days in Boone? I’m a parent as well and despite that fact have managed to attend weeknight events like games and concerts. I get the impression you’ve made your mind up here though so I’ll leave it there. Everyone has the right to parent how they deem appropriate, so no judgement from me if that’s your reason./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 07, 2021 12:14 amNew gig as a parent??? I have a very flexible job, but very demanding life as a parent. 3 kids, different ages with different interests...you know how it is. It doesn't help I also live 5 hours from Boone.ah59396 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 07, 2021 12:55 amI’m a parent as well and despite that fact have managed to attend weeknight events like games and concerts. Re: Herd game update - Thursday
If all games were on Saturdays my family would still miss 1-2 games because of soccer games, swim meets, math challenges, etc for our kids.
It’s life.
I’ve made a decision based upon what’s important to me and I know that’s a personal decision. I’d love to attend every game but I choose a balance as a parent.

130 FBS programs all making the same types of decisions isn’t enough evidence.
Some let emotional bias trump all information contrary to their personal situation.
Doug is a good AD and is making the best decision for the athletic department not for me personally or you.

Our fund raising has fallen into the ESPN trap! It is very important to have “Stars” or wealthy donors but it is More important to have lots of Jimmy’s and Joe’s. We should have a concentrated membership drive that includes using existing members to recruit. If half of Yosef would recruit 1 new member we could increase membership by 1500. Then make it an annual thing. Incentives could be used to ramp up participation!

Agreed, I am skeptical that our recruiting class this year would have been as good as it is if not for playing on TV on any day of the week accompanied with the great records achieved in 2018 and 2019. If no one else watching, the recruits that have App on their list is watching. We do not get requested to move games to be on TV unless we have a great track record. It is all interconnected.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 9:12 pmCan’t believe this is really a question.
