Shemar Jean Charles drafted in 5th round
Green Bay Packers have selected Shemar Jean-Charles 178 overall in the 5th round!!
A little surprised it was this high. I was thinking he goes in the 200-250 range but glad to see him go to a team like GB.
This draft is so thin that if he is going 5 instead of 6 like the word was then I would suspect that Taylor, Kaiden Smith, Jolly, and Sutton all have a great shot to get drafted had they come out. If this was a normal draft SJC would be a late 6. Everyone without issues seems to be getting pushed up a round.

Re: Shemar Jean Charles drafted in 5th round
I agree with you that he is a really good player but imagine the fact that if this draft was not so thin he could have fallen to 7. He is definitely a steal here. I said it before and I'll say again that if he were close to 6'1 and ran a 4.40 he would have been a lock to go top 100. It would not shock me if he has a 2 contract type career in the NFL and becomes a really solid player.

Anyone found video?
Sucks Green Bay could go downhill losing Rodgers though.

From CBS Sports -
178. Packers, Shemar Jean-Charles, CB, Appalachian St.
Grade: B+
Fluid cornerback who can play inside and out and showed outstanding instincts to make plays on the football on a regular basis. Just not overly fast down the field. This is the type of depth you pick at CB on Day 3.

Should see a couple more guys picked up as UDFA’s. Maybe one or two to the CFL. Always good to see a mountaineer get drafted.

With some of the names going who have major flags I'm wondering if we have anyone drafted because this group is so thin. I'm with you that we should at least see some guys sign as free agents but I would not be totally shocked (now that I'm seeing this play out) if Neuzil or Thomas possibly sneak in round 7. If not, they should sign contracts for sure. Hannon should get a shot as well.

Re: Shemar Jean Charles drafted in 5th round
Just listened Packer's GM take question, paraphrasing, "How does someone like Shemar last until late in the 5th, with all he did for App St?" The GM said, "he was a favorite of our scouts, we bring them in two weeks before the draft, and they kept pushing him up. We see him playing on the inside in nickel against the slot and some outside. He's physically strong, and very good with his hands and has a high football IQ." That's our guy. Go get'm Sherm!

Sherm is one of most determined and focused players I’ve ever seen. Such an incredibly hard worker. He deserves this and WILL succeed. Go get it Shemar!

Very happy for SJC this morning. Gets drafted by a classy organization...nobody ever complains much about getting the nod from Green Bay!
And while Kidd-Brewer in November isn't quite the "frozen tundra" of Lambeau, Charles has played in his share of frosty weather and that doesn't hurt.

And he pronounced Appalachian correctly. Gotta appreciate that.
GB should be a great fit for Shemar

Re: Shemar Jean Charles drafted in 5th round
"Pre-Draft Analysis
Jean-Charles is a smaller corner with shorter arms and average top-end speed. He does a good job of reading routes, breaking on the ball and breaking up passes in off coverage. -- Steve Muench"
Arm length seemed to be one of the focal points this year. I've seen it highlighted on quite a few players in this draft as if it played major reasons to their rise or fall in position.
Green Bay is a great organization to get your start in the league with.
