FCS Quarterfinals Today
For those of us needing something to tide us over, three of the four games are televised at 3, 6 and 9. First one is on ESPN, and the next two are on ESPN2. There have been some really good games this Spring season. Let’s not forget where we came from!!!

Glad to see NDSU go down. Good tight game, what I saw of it. Did I see right that Sam Houston’s coach is the former Delaware coach we embarrassed in the 07 championship?

Yes that's the same guy. I watched the 2nd half and they were both solid teams. SHS looked really solid. Have watched some of JMU and North Dakota. As always JMU is solid but ND has played wide open, double reverse passes, hook and ladder, fake punt, etc.

Glad we moved up, but there was some good football in FCS. Enjoy us no matter what level we perform in.

Re: FCS Quarterfinals Today
There is no doubt playing “big boy” football is MUCH better than FCS but I’ll admit those win or go home playoffs were really exciting, especially the home games. Even though the NC games were not needle movers for many fans of FBS football they were very exciting for us App fans. I guess at the end of the day it’s all relative. Most of the country didn’t even really know we or FCS existed. After 2007 it began to change. NDSU has dominated that landscape for many years and Lance certainly brought extra pub their way but for the most part they are still an afterthought. I watched a few minutes here and there this spring season and I’m glad those young men got to play.

Sorry forgot one last thought. For many of those guys this is it for them as far as playing football goes. Our youngest are twin boys who are seniors and have played baseball since they were 4. They played 4 games last year as juniors and we wondered if that would be it. Thankfully we get to enjoy a somewhat abbreviated senior season but in about 7 weeks or so it will be done. I cherish every game.

Re: FCS Quarterfinals Today
JMU has spent the last 30 years playing second fiddle to Georgia Southern, then us, then NDSU.
They decided not to move up to the Sun Belt when they should have and now risk a serious regression as the MVFC has strengthened tremendously after NDSU’s arrival.
I think they made a terrible mistake.

Screw JMU. Glad those smug losers lost. Screw Delaware too, just cause.
The I-AA/FCS days were fun and enjoyed the heck out of it, but beyond happy we made the move.
GO APPS!!

Re: FCS Quarterfinals Today
Caught some of the game between the Blue Hens and Jackrabbits...I'd imagine Delaware's QB will be hobbling through exam week and beyond. That kid took a pounding on Saturday.
JMU sure crapped the bed in the semifinal game.
But i've been wondering about the future direction of their athletics programs. Anybody know how the JMU fanbase feels about this?
Do they think the Dukes erred by remaining in FCS when and watching ODU, Charlotte, Liberty, App, etc. move up?

They do not. They believe that the AAC will come calling any day now and they will leave the rest of us behind them where we all belong.

Re: FCS Quarterfinals Today
I occasionally jump over to the JMU board on CSNbbs. Their fan base is extremely fractured. Some like being the big fish in a small pond, some think they are AAC bound, some think they made a huge mistake not joining the Sunbelt, some think they should go independent. They're truly all over the place.
Their realignment thread is 75 pages long.
That is not a typo. It is not 7.5 pages. It is 75 pages.

Amen. I’m just thankful that we made the move and did not deem the Belt to be beneath us.AppinVA wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 4:54 pmI’m just glad we’re not them.APPdiesel wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 4:39 pmI occasionally jump over to the JMU board on CSNbbs. Re: FCS Quarterfinals Today
Last year, in a down year for App, we were ranked in top 25, lost a couple close games to two top 25 conference mates and our conf champion was top 15.
Sun Belt wasn’t too bad of a conference to be a member of I would say.
We have made it a decent conference.
A helluva lot better than FCS world

Re: FCS Quarterfinals Today
The Sunbelt with App > CUSA with App. We would be languishing under the yoke of Judy Rose ruing the day we took the invite, much the same way ODU fans do. We might’ve had a marginally easier path to a NY6 bid based on their lingering perception but it would’ve been a house of cards. Sunbelt is building something with a solid foundation. App and Louisiana buoy both divisions of the league with a few solid come-ups. James Madison could’ve strengthened that but the ship has sailed and now they’re marooned. Sunbelt is absolutely better than CUSA and I’m glad to be here.

Charlie Cobb almost made the same mistake though. He had made some comments about the SunBelt that he had to walk back.proasu89 wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 8:26 pmAmen. You are correct, glad he took his foot out of his mouth long enough to accept the invitation.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 11:23 amCharlie Cobb almost made the same mistake though.
