my guess is all the unavailable on the upper deck aren't on sale for this game???Capt. Ed wrote: ↑Sat Jul 17, 2021 9:43 amIf I've interpreted this right, looks like we'll have a good crowd at Panther Stadium.

Re: Big Attendance for ECU game
That is what I was thinking but now that the upper deck is open I assume the upper deck restrooms are open along with some upper deck concessions as well. If this sells in the next few weeks they should open up even more. I doubt there will not be much savings in cleaning now that the upper deck is open and money to be made if the demand is there. Nice to know that part of the stadium is needed.WVAPPeer wrote: ↑Sat Jul 17, 2021 10:36 ammy guess is all the unavailable on the upper deck aren't on sale for this game???Capt. Re: Big Attendance for ECU game
They are a bigger university and more living alumni but I am not sure how much Charlotte is a base for those alums versus staying in the eastern part of the state and Raleigh. Raleigh to Charlotte is a 2.5 hour drive at best and Greenville to Charlotte is even longer. I think we have more alumni within 1 hr and 2 hr of Charlotte. And I bet we are looking forward to this game more than they are given our recent success versus they recent performance and the fact some of us remember the AE years and what could have been.
I would not be surprised if we outnumber ECU and if they outnumber us it will not be by much. More than likely it will be close enough to 50/50 that idiots on both sides will claim more fans without anything but fanaticism pushing their thoughts. At least that is my prediction.
I just want a win and a good App-State cheer going during the game.

Re: Big Attendance for ECU game
well, we are in our peak of football right now historically, and they are at one of their lowest points, so I'd think we will have more fans excited to make the trip.
They do have just under 30 thousand students compared to our just under 20 thousand students, so we'll see...probably close to 50/50, maybe they'll have a slight edge.

I was kind of leaning toward your way of thinking re: attendance.

I'm glad they moved it. Early start to Labor Day weekend and won't have to sit in the 95 degree direct sun for 4 hours.

Re: Big Attendance for ECU game
I’ll be curious to see what it looks like. I initially had high expectations that have been reduced a bit by the time change and also the fact that we get out donated by the likes of UNCC.
So I’m a little ambivalent about our so called fanbase right now.

One bonus moving the game to Thursday is we can get up to Boone Sat for Luke Combs! Epic bday weekend!

Don't know if it's an indicator, but the upper side that opened is behind the App bench.

Re: Big Attendance for ECU game
Looking at the stadium on Ticketmaster and assuming no one will be in the top deck can we hope to put maybe 30/40,000 in the stands? Is that too much? I think we will bring the same amount of fans as ECU or ECU will outnumber us slightly. They may not have had much recent success but it'll be the start of a new season and they will at least be optimistic to improve at that point. When they are decent they have a better fanbase than us. We've had Sun Belt championship games where I've been disappointed in our attendance.

Re: Big Attendance for ECU game
ECU averaged in the mid-30Ks in 2019 for home games. App regularly gets 25 to 30K for decent opponents. The challenge for App is we don't know how the move to BofA stadium will impact the student attendance, but it's bound to decrease it somewhat. It might actually increase the other fan attendance but the move to Thursday night will offset. I will be disappointed if there aren't 35K fans in the stands for this game but there are a lot of moving parts so it's hard to say.
