MBB @ Furman, 12/10 7pm
Fellas have a few days off for exams then travel down to Travelers Rest to take on the Furple Paladins. Furman is better than we are. RPI #66 we are #197.

Bob Richey has done a heck of a job at Furman. I think he would be good at App if Kerns and staff depart at some point, but he will likely get snagged by a higher level program soon.

Coming from the other side of town I’ll be there probably around halftime. Who else is coming?

Really wish we could pull this one out. Slow start to this year, we need to get it going!

Heading down to the game Friday from AVL. Watched us play FU in one of capels years. We were terrible. So were they. They won that night. But whereas FU managed to completely resurrect their program with Nico Medved (now at Colorado State) and Bob Richie we had to languish through Jason capel and Jim Fox. I watched as our two programs became polar opposites.
Hopefully the ship has been righted and we can be competitive.
FU is an easy drive from CLT and WNC fans. Let’s show up and support the team!
And….Furman Sux.

Not much to do in Travelers Rest but if you’re coming up through Greenville I suggest stopping for dinner at Stax’s Original restaurant. It’s on the corner of Poinsett Hwy and Pleasantburg Dr. The owner is a friend of mine. It’s a classic style diner that’s been there for multiple generations.

If you want to have an adult beverage, Sidewall Pizza, Farmhouse Tacos, Monkey Wrench Smokehouse, and Shortfields are all really good places right on Main St. in TR.APPdiesel wrote: ↑Thu Dec 09, 2021 10:43 amNot much to do in Travelers Rest but if you’re coming up through Greenville I suggest stopping for dinner at Stax’s Original restaurant. Stax's Original is great for breakfast and the good old meat and 3 for lunch/dinner.
I saw Bobby Lamb eating there quite a few times.
He always ordered the #2.

I was there tonight. Wow Furman moved the ball well. Absolutely gashed us with inside passes and really crisp kick outs. We do not rebound well on offense. And when we play man defense our inside guys would get pulled out of the lane and open up penetration opportunities. Tough one to lose considering we kept it tight until the last 3 minutes or so.

Re: MBB @ Furman, 12/10 7pm
Not sure about in general, but tonight James Lewis led everyone in the gym by far with 7 offensive rebounds, and we led them 36-34 in total rebounds. We just couldn’t shoot at the clip that furman does. They look very efficient and patient. Not only could they shoot from deep, they also masterfully backed our smaller guys down in the paint and had tons of little hook shots at the rim in the first half. The halftime score definitely favored FU’s pace, but we kept in the 60s until super late to favor our style…just couldn’t pull it out. Bob Richey will get snatched up by another program soon I would think. He’s done a heck of a job at FU.APPdiesel wrote: ↑Fri Dec 10, 2021 10:20 pmI was there tonight. Wow Furman moved the ball well. Can't win on the road shooting like our team shoots and these numbers are about par for our guys!

Re: MBB @ Furman, 12/10 7pm
It’s even hard winning at home shooting like we do. Couple that to the fact that we run an offense that produces very few points. When you keep the game in the 60’s most likely the other team will be in the game at the end. Right now we’re losing more of them than we’re winning. We are not a good shooting team and do not pass good enough to work for good shots when needed. Not moving the ball on offense creates what seems to be desperation 3’s.asu66 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 7:22 amCan't win on the road shooting like our team shoots and these numbers are about par for our guys!

Big fan of the coach and team, but we are not good. We can’t shoot. We do try hard.
