Re: Players gone
Holloway came to ASU as the odds-on favorite to win the starting RB position as a true freshman; only to lose the job to a walk-on. There was talk the job was his to take with a strong spring; and again the same walk-on emerged as the #1 guy in the backfield. Guess he might be reading writing on the wall and tea leaves in his cup.

Re: Players gone
Not sure what's going on with Hall. Word on campus didn't mention any academic problems but I did notice he wasn't on the prospectus when it was released even though I expected him to show on it so he was already gone. I went back on twitter and saw a couple of references to walking on at Georgia. Would love to know what happened since I thought he would easily be on the two deep but I doubt we'll ever know.
As far as Holloway I'm not too surprised. I thought he was supposed to be our back of the future but when the prospectus came out and he wasn't even on the two deep it looked like the writing was on the wall. With us bringing in Cox and Upshaw and pushing hard for two RB's this year I kind of expected something to happen. Reports are Magloire has been impressive and I think either Cox or Upshaw can push for time. We've got 5 Freshmen RB's on the roster right now. It'll be interesting to see how many red shirts are handed out.

Sorry 66. I guess I was typing while you were posting. I didn't mean to quote you
Also, OL Ron Henderson is also gone from the roster and he wasn't on the prospectus either.

Re: Players gone
Have been told Holloway has some pretty serious health issues. Surprised by the news on Hall. He was a big time recruit and had a big future.

Re: Players gone
Really surprised about Hall, with our lack of depth at Linebacker, he was almost guaranteed a starting position or at least significant playing time. Now he is trading that to sit out one year, with no guaranteed scholarship, and no guarantee he will even get on the field. Would like to know if he is leaving in good status with the program. In any case, this really hurts a program already short handed at LB. Anyway, wish Hall the best, hope it work out for him

New DC, new defensive sets. It's possible he wasn't adjusting well or possibly not working well with the new staff. Those are complete guesses but usually when a potential starter leaves after a coaching change those tend to be some of the reasons. Anyway, I agree with you and hate that we are losing him but I do wish him the best and hope it works out for him. Time for some of the new guys to step up and take the spot.moehler wrote:Really surprised about Hall, with our lack of depth at Linebacker, he was almost guaranteed a starting position or at least significant playing time. Re: Players gone
My understanding is that Holloway has been injured much of his time at ASU. Hamstring and back kept him out of much of spring which as we all know puts you behind everyone who is healthy. I know that his high school coach was questioned this spring about his durability, which was not an issue before. Know that there were a host of players that had injured hamstrings during spring ball. Hate to see Holloway go if it is true. He is a great kid that was extremely excited about playing at the Rock. Wish him the best.
