For the record, I love the new look, especially black on black and white on white. Not a huge fan of the grey or the black/white and white/black combos. Also, count me as one who is a fan of the new helmets. Love the matte AND the black block A. I think it will stand out with the yellow outline more than most people seem to. Overall I'm very pleased. I think we are really trying to look the FBS part.

I truly respect the commitment and perspective of the old guard. I'm just glad y'all don't make subdivision and jersey decisions.

Yellow! Proof positive the younger alumni have no clue what our REAL colors are.

Re: NEW UNIFORMS!!!
Can we stop with the "we did this when I was there, so you're wrong" stuff? There is no reason for us all to argue over a logo, one that is not and will not be the official logo. The logo has been slightly altered for our football uniforms, maybe for a season, maybe for ten... none of us really know. Does that mean there should be a riff between those that graduated in 1985 and 2013? No. We need to be looking forward to what's ahead, like our SoCon farewell tour, our future in the FBS, and hopefully many bowl games to come. With all of that said, it's a logo. It may not be the logo from 1940, 1960, 1980, or any other year, but that does not mean that us younger Mountaineers cannot have a say in what the future of our team looks like. Everybody should and likely has had a say in the creation of these logos and uniforms. So, lets talk about the uniforms, not argue about which graduating class had the best logo.

8993,
This is the classic "you can make some of the people happy all the time, but you can never make all the people happy all the time." Everyone will have their own opinions
One thing I haven't seen mentioned is the absence of one little sticker that was on the helmets this past year. Anyone else notice there's NO SoCon logo this year! How cool is that? I really like the 3-D block A on the exterior part of the forehead pad where the SoCon logo use to be. It will be interesting to see how long they stay in one piece on the OL and DL.

As previously stated - unnoticed by you - the butchering of our beloved logo aside I have zero problems with the uniforms. Although I would like to see a bigger Appalachian without the State. FYI this old Southern Man was anti 1-AA / FCS before you knew where Boone NC was. If people like me were calling the shots ASU would be at the same level as ECU or at the very least Marshall today.

Yup, it was there. I know that you didn't post that by Daphne, something funky happened with the quoting.Kgfish wrote:Sorry but I don't see where you quoted me and referenced this. When did the block A come into existence as a logo for the university?

Just playing devil's advocate a bit here but couldn't it be argued that changing and evolving is just as much a part of Appalachian's football history as any one logo?

Re: NEW UNIFORMS!!!
I hope it's not. If this is a change merely to the block A on the football helmets, then the priceless "look" and brand awareness we've created over the past three decades can be easily re-done once this fad runs its course. If this is a sweeping brand change throughout the athletics department (which I don't think it is), then we've made another misstep in the name of trendiness, faux marketing and change-for-change sake.ASUMountaineer wrote:Why do you think it's a permanent change for all logos?AppGrad78 wrote:Worse yet, how will that logo look stuck to the window of an SUV, especially one with tinted windows?JTApps1 wrote:I just wonder how the new logo will show up on TV. The way I look at it, it could have been worse. We could be Maryland or North Carolina or Oregon or any number of schools that uses this gimmick to boost retail sales. We took a fairly modest approach to this phenomenon. I'm disappointed that we followed the herd, but comforted in knowing that it could have been worse.

Re: NEW UNIFORMS!!!
I don't really see this as a big deal. The Block A is our prominent logo, and that hasn't changed at all. I have a shirt with a white Block A, I have one with a gray Block A, and I have one with a yaller block A. The common thing is that it's the Appalachian Block A. I think this fuss is much ado about nothing, but that's just my opinion.
