What really hurts about this loss is that every time we almost turn a corner we stub our toes.
The top 10 losses on OT, 2019 ga southern, today.
A&M looks good and they might beat Arkansas, most of teams 20-25 lost, we could be ranked week 4 and be in the drivers seat for the NY6. But instead we’re giving up a 28-3 lead in the 2nd quarter.

Just watched Navy beat ECU at my neighbors house. I commented that you are really going to see the mid tier teams beat each other this year due to the transfer portal and the fact that so many teams have dudes who are in their 5th and even 6th years. Way too many good programs have kept players for years.

I mean theoretically we could still get the ny6 with 2 losses. We still have the best win of the g5. If Texas am has a good year and the aac champion has two losses there’s a chance

No but we are not expecting to give up an average of 34 points per game either.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 7:35 pmWhat are you expecting? 50-0 every game? The other teams practice too he said again.

I’m worried about making a regular bowl at this point. Remember only one of the FCS wins will count for eligibility.BallantyneApp wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 8:52 pmI mean theoretically we could still get the ny6 with 2 losses. That's not something you think about if you handle your business against teams you are suppose to beat though. I have said on here before I am not a fan of playing 2 FCS games and this is another reason why.yosef69 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 8:55 pmI’m worried about making a regular bowl at this point. 34.25 average points allowed in 4 games, 137 points.
34.5 average points scored in 4 games, 138 points.
2022 record 2-2
22.14 average points allowed in 14 games, 310 points.
34.5 average points scored in 14 games, 483 points.
2021 record 10-4
20 average points allowed in 12 games, 240 points.
33.83 average points scored in 12 games, 406 points.
2020 record 9-3
NCSU
19.7 average points allowed in 12 games, 236 points.
33.1 average points scored in 12 games, 397 points.
2021 record 9-3
2021 Georgia allowed 10.2, 14-1. Tammy allowed 15.9, 8-4. Bama allowed 20.1, 13-2.
2020 Georgia allowed 20.0, 8-2. Tammy allowed 21.7, 9-1. Bama allowed 20.9, 13-0.
If your team is giving up more than 20 points a game, then you don't have much of a chance to make it near the top. Sure our offense has dropped the ball from time to time, but the product our coaches put on the field produces the averages needed to win a lot of games. NCSU almost exactly mirrored our stats in 2021, and you see the results.
Make all the excuses you want. Chastize those that criticize all you want. Pretend to have some sort of moral high ground in your comments, but understand this, the results are speaking for themselves. We took a ton of momentum from 2005-2007 and turned that into a solid FBS invite. We took that momentum and stumbled before gathering ourselves and charging to the top of the Sunbelt by 2016. 2017, 2018, and 2019 taking the reins. 2020 didn't make it. 2021 lost to the Cajuns. As for this year....UNC just lost to Notre Dame, who lost to Marshall.....we lost to UNC. Tammy has some serious weaknesses that the SEC schedule will expose, like only beating Miami 17-9; Miami just got cream pied by MTSU.
We are in a rut. It is an overall winning rut, but a rut nonetheless. For a 3rd year in a row, it's looking like the conference title is slipping away. It isn't totally gone yet, so I hope we fight like hell for it, but it is slipping if we can't fix some of our issues and fast. We have 12 regular season games this year. 10-2 if we run the table. 9-3 if we drop another. This is year 3 of this coaching staff. If we have another 9-3 or worse 8-4 season and go a 3rd year in a row without a chip, when do we start asking the big questions? Or do we? How many years do we take without a chip? Are the fans happy with 9-3 and no chip? Are the fans happy just going to the Myrtle Beach Chicken S*** bowl each year?

All of your concerns are valid, but consider how valuable the stability is of being a perennial contender. It’s very unlikely we will win the title every year. Winning 8+ games a season means we are always a couple plays away from a 10 or 12 win season.appdaze wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 9:14 pmApp State

Yes, there may be another Drinkwitz out there that takes you to the top. But there’s also a coach out there that turns you from a 9 win team into a 2 win team.
The margins are razor thin. Southern Miss won 11 games in 2011 and then won 4 in their next 3 seasons.

THIS. THIS. THIS. We can never get out of our own way. That’s what drives me nuts. It’s one thing to get beat, it’s another thing to beat yourself (we did it in 2019 and today). This program is absolutely allergic to taking it to the next level.

So you doom and gloom guys answer this question - Please answer this question - would you have rather beaten JMU or #5 Texas A&M ( who just beat #10 Arkansas)? Don't say both - we didn't beat both and give a straight answer please ---

I’d rather not blow a 28-3 lead to a recently transitioned FCS team at home 10 out of 10 times.

I'm also very disappointed with the lack of halftime and in-game adjustments. You don't see Saban, Smart, Swinney, or Day allowing to happen what happened to us today. Right now, we're not a great team.

Not doom and gloom but JMU all day. A&M game is meaningless now and does nothing for a Belt chip.

Re: JMU Game Day Thread
I'm definitely not Team Gloom and Doom but I can also understand argument that JMU win has more value because it's part of path to Sun Belt title. Although good news is due to their transition year, having a tiebreak on App doesn't matter this year.
Having said that, the A&M win was awesome, certainly looks better each week, and we would not have gotten so much national press or the Gameday experience without it. I had friends immediately calling me after that win. They wouldn't have contacted me so quickly for holding on against JMU.

Re: JMU Game Day Thread
If you have the talent to beat Texas A&M and you are up on any SBC team 28-3 I think it’s safe to say you should not lose and that is atypical of what I know about App State football.
Tomorrow we start the process to get better.

Re: JMU Game Day Thread
Beat JMU at home. The win over A&M did nothing but overinflate our egos. I'd be happier at 2-2 if the losses were to UNC and A&M. Losing to your conference foes, especially one in the first year of FBS, isn't acceptable at this point. Time for some deep deep soul searching. We either go out and run the table or we all hold hands while WVapp and Seatlleapp sing Kumbaya and hand out participation trophies.

Neal Brown should be fired tonight (and you guys know me and I never say stuff like this)
I had such high hopes for Brown and he just plain sucks - can't handle the big time --- They finally have a P5 QB in JT Daniels - please bring in a coach that knows what the F he is doing ---
This you?
