I admit to being confused here. I thought the cut was yesterday.

Re: DJ Smith cut
All teams did have to cut down to 53 yesterday however they can now sign any free agents who are cut by other teams and clear waivers - so if Team A decides to sign 2 free agents today (and moving forward) then they have to cut 2 current roster members ---DaphneUrquhart wrote:I admit to being confused here. Thanks. Guess I was hoping DJ would get to hang around.

Re: DJ Smith cut
As I said yesterday the situation was still fluid and could change as teams saw who was cut. DJ has experience and does his best work against the run. He needs to find a 3-4 D so he can stay in the middle and not have to try and cover 6-5 TE's. He has a better than average chance of finding a home somewhere.

Re: DJ Smith cut
It's sad that a cheap shot following a play might have ended the career of a player like DJ. How that OL from Houston didn't get fined for that I'll never know. DJ was a star in the making at Green Bay and now this. Hopefully he'll get picked up by someone.

Re: DJ Smith cut
I think he will after the first game or two, if not sooner. And if someone gets injured I'll bet DJ is on the radar of several teams. It also didn't help that he was cut the day after most cuts were made. A few teams who might have picked him up took other players when he was kept on the roster then he was cut the next day. San D didn't do him any favors.JTApps1 wrote:It's sad that a cheap shot following a play might have ended the career of a player like DJ. Re: DJ Smith cut
DJ worked out for the Lions today. Also saw a tweet that said that Pittsburgh was looking at bringing him in. With some of the injuries around the league I wouldn't be surprised if someone else comes calling.
On the bad news front, De'Andre was cut today from the Miami practice squad. We'll see if another team takes a look at him.
