Seattleapp wrote:All summer long and basically since we declared we are moving to FBS, I have monitored this board. So many were happy to see Moore go. So many just knew we were going to roll through this season. Everyone has been so dismissive of FCS in general, with threads dedicated to "what FCS team will we root for after we are Division I?" There was little discussion in the build up to this season about our 2013 schedule, except to talk about the game we are going to give Georgia in November. Even the discussion about the Montana game was tepid at best, with the decision instead to write pointless summations about our future Sunbelt opponents.

It all looked so arrogant on our part. We acted like we are too good for FCS and the opponents we are playing THIS year. I hope people realize just how hard it is to win consistently at any level. This isn't a rah-rah Jerry Moore thread, but it is one that maybe we should have a reality check. We aren't North Dakota State. We really aren't. We haven't dominated FCS in several years. I think we have done a disservice to our team and our league by prematurely looking down our nose at this season. I have held off on how moronic it has been to devote daily threads to the Sun Belt teams we won't even be seeing for another year in the months leading up to the 2013 team. STUPID AND ARROGANT AND POINTLESS.

So here we are, two games into the 2013 team and we have been smacked around on the road by Montana and embarrassed at home by NC A&T. Two FCS opponents who have taken us to the woodshed. I have no way of knowing how this season will turn out, but I think it's high time we start being realistic about our program. We have some major holes to fill and we are not the 2007 team anymore. I want us all to support our team, but a little humility by our fans goes a long way. Let these two games be a wakeup call to mountaineer nation.
Two words: Rep point.

Thus proving two people can in fact read the exact same thing and come away with a difference in intent and meaning. L'chaim.

But my point of view is the right one.
Thus proving pride often interferes with judgement. ;)

Take away that bone head play and we win by 4, in addition not-so-special teams play continues again this year.
Which bone head play??

I saw the obligatory KO return, as well.

That is the sad thing about APP. For years we have prided ourselves on have wonderful speed, but by golly we always, always have to give up a kick return for a TD, and never seem to get a TD on a kick return. Why? Why? Why?

This time it bit us in the buttocks.

Make sure you tuck and roll when you make your flying leap from the bandwagon, SeattleApp. Our own fans didn't respect the FCS playoffs enough to even show up and we do not fit the profile of the average FCS school. That does not mean we are above the FCS. It just means that we are lucky enough to have the resources to make the move and should. Get over it. Our spectacular failure at the FBS level has not yet been assured after 2 losses. Trying to prematurely rub it in people's faces makes you seem petty.

We started 0-2 in 2009 also (losing at home to a team that no one expected to lose to) but that season ended up being pretty successful.

I don't remember SeattleApp calling for humility in 2009 when we started 0-2 under Moore...

Opening with ECU is a bit different than with I-AA Montana.

ECU is FBS, Montana FCS. Remember? Had we opened with Michigan that year an were 0-2 you think he should have spoken similarly to this year?

I was referring to the McNeese State loss moreso (but we should have won that ECU game even without AE, so yes Montana was better). No one in Boone and I mean NO ONE, took McNeese State seriously that year (wrongfully so) and yet we still rebounded well. I don't think we took A&T seriously at all, either as evidenced by the pitiful 2 pt conversion attempt after our first (?!?) touchdown. The team needs to be humbled from this, not the fans. ANY fan base would be as proud as we are with the success that we've experienced. No shame in that.

If we end up having a losing season, I will eat my words, but making divisive posts for the purpose of thumbing your nose at the majority of the fan base is asinine.

 SeattleApp has an axe to grind and that's all he's doing. You know that, but you're going to push forward anyways.

What does Michigan have to do with it? Montana and ECU are much closer than ECU and Michigan.

If only SeattleApp had called for humility in 2009...

I don't think that is necessarily the case, Moore did take out a senior DP when he was struggling, and ironically replaced him with JLJ.

Appftw, What asinine posts? I've just been trying to point out the positives in our performance, while dozens, it seems are crying the doomsday scenario, as if Satterfield and the guys are slackards. I think many of us, make speculative assumptions about our players, coaches, and fans thoughts and attitudes going in and during games/seasons.

And took out Trey Elder when he was struggling and put in Armanti Edwards against the opinion of a great many of our fans.
