Then how do you explain the fact that we have been winning conference titles with the exact same type players. I think some people forget AE was only here 4 years. Our problem is at least 75% coaching.
These guys could still go 7-4 this year in the SoCon I see unfolding this year... everybody except Georgia looks beatable to me this year. That's how I explain it. Every time we play against superior line play, we have been whipped since 2009... and the only reason we survived those games from 2006-2008 is because our offense walked on water.
Even in Shawn's last couple years we did a bad job of getting good OL. It's the hardest position to get bodies but how come CSU, NCAT and others are getting them is my question here? Are folks telling me we can't beat them out for recruits?

It's funny at the folks quickly defending Scott saying none of this is his fault. Not all is but much of it is. They were predicting a great year and saying we would be great this year with him as head coach. Now that he isn't doing well they are defending him completely. Like I said, I don't think it's all his fault but there are many things that are and while I felt there were better coaches out there I don't ever want us to be bad. We will find out in the next three weeks what our coaches and our team is made of. I think it's going to be embarrassing at what our crowd will be in two weeks if we lose to Citadel. This is a must win game for Scott or else you can pretty much say we lose 4 more games for sure, and maybe all of them. All of our games left outside of Georgia are winnable but for the first time ever I can also say that every game on our schedule is one we could very well lose as well.
Our next game is homecoming, so more than 25k at that one. GA Southern and Western will be capacity as well no matter the records of each team. AppState will have good attendance because we are a football school through and through. Too much tradition and social activities in Boone for us to stop coming to games because of a few losses. Our fans will be fine.

We have been sliding for the last 4 years

Coaching is really the only thing that has changed. Every year you have players move on and new players come in. To say we have been sliding for the past 4 years is dumb. We have been conference champs or co-champs 7 of the last 8 years. When we won the national championships we had close games in the playoffs some maybe we should have lost. The last two years we got beat by good teams that were in the playoffs ( so they had earned their way there as well) in the playoffs the best team does not always win the championship, that is why they play the game.

No, to not realize a lot of things have gone backwards in the last 5 or so years is dumb. We are paying a steep price today for the lack of quality offensive line recruiting several years ago. Not keeping good relations with a lot of high school coaches has hurt as well.

To me anything under 28-29k is not very good for us. If we are winning and playing good traveling teams with decent weather we should always have over 28k. For us, bad attendance is more like 23-25k and I think that's closer to what we will see than 28 or 29k if we lose to Citadel.

I have been saying this a bunch lately we are not paying the price for bad OL recruiting right now. The years we missed on OL recruits were in 08 and 09 and those kids are all out of the program except for a couple 5th year seniors. We paid the price for those bad recruiting years in 10-12 but still managed to win some conference titles and go to the playoffs. Since '10 we have recruited Ol fine, we have just not developed the kids and made them strong enough. Our OL class in 10 is Barnard, Fisher, Jones, Lamm, Bostick and Corbin. With proper coaching, including S&C, that alone has the makings of an all conference Ol and some potential AA in the group. Those kids all have size, talent and heart, but clearly have not been coached properly because they have not shown significant improvement from when most played as freshmen. It is not a recruiting issue with the OL, we weathered that storm, it is a COACHING issue.

I thought the S&C might be a weak link heading into the season. I wish App could've held onto Kent or try to bring in someone cut from the same cloth as Dillman.

That sir is crazy talk. All some of our fans see is that the team is from the Big South and MEAC and thus deemed unworthy to be on the feild with us.
