Refs were going to make sure the outcome tonight.
Two BS goaltends, moving screens not called, touch fouls called in the second half.
I’m not a fan of the NIL but will support a go fund me if Kerns gets fined in the presser.

Great season tough ending. The harsh reality that many don't want to accept is that there is simply a difference in App and ACC schools and power conferences in general. We have to absolutely find magic in a bottle and tonight we could not sustain it. Spillers was on fire then went away. We had success in the paint then just started jacking 3's. How many 3's did we get blocked or deflected- maybe 3? I don't recall a single one all year in the Belt.
And just because we lost doesn't mean we didn't deserve a bid to the NCAA tournament. Only one team wins and there will be a few blowouts.

Maybe. It’s a tough end to a great year. Arguably our best ever. This team made app basketball fun and interesting again. It was a fun ride with way more ups than downs.AppinVA wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 9:09 pmMaybe he’s going for clicks, kind of like Starbucks marketing where they intentionally misspell your name on your cup so you share a picture of it on the socials.ah59396 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 9:05 pmOur program has been dead for a decade. I'm sorry, did you expect to get blown out at Wake? We had a good season, but wow, I personally learned something about how many more stairs their are to climb. Call it an awful take, but wow, we are not close to an at large bid. Sorry, we're not. And i appreciate this season. I called it generationally good. I love these guys. I want to keep Kerns. But this needs to be a lesson. Sorry if you don't like that take.App_in_Maiden wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 9:03 pmWhat an awful take.appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 8:51 pmSo we weren't that good after all. You are completely insufferable and continually demonstrate your ignorance to all things sports. Personally I wish you’d trade in your black and gold for baby blue so you can go be dumb on another message boardappgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 9:13 pmI'm sorry, did you expect to get blown out at Wake? Talent. They were the better team.I knew we would have to shoot better than our average to beat them , and we didn’t. Oh yeah … money buys talent. We have a really good team , great coaches and a tight budget. You want to compete with the ACC ? Ante up.

Oh no! With 9 losses in the ACC, we’d end up like NCAA tournament 6 seed Clemson. We lost that game in the first 10 minutes going something like 1-11 on 3pts. Yea the refs hosed us a few times but the refs don't take our shots or call our plays. We are an OK 3pt shooting team, but I hate what we did jacking them up right and left, that isn't us. I've seen this too many times in the last 20 years where the "small teams" get out of their game and just start launching them. Rarely does that end well. We weren't ready to play Wake.
Negativity is done.

27-7 BAM! Take that Capel you SoB!
97-65 .599 55-34 .618
Best win percentage for us since the end of WWII. Except for Fuzz---see Capel comment
The stairs that Kerns built. They are made of black and gold. This is going to be a great offseason of building and I look forward to next season.
Huntley, Gregory, Greene, thank you for your service. Don't be strangers. One of the most important ways to continue to build what you started is to be present as an alumnus. We need your mindset and team culture to persist.

We made 3 more FGs and 1 more 3 pointer than Wake but they made 18 more FTs on their 31 attempts to our 8. From my vantage point in the stands, it sure seemed they got the benefit of a lot of calls that didn't go our way. Most of fouls called on us were of the shooting variety, in large measure because they were able to get the ball inside. Their size and strength made the difference as they were able to get in the lane and around the basket.
After we cut it to one, they outscored us 38-28. The crowd came alive but they kept drawing the fouls and making the FTs and just like that we found ourselves down 16. We did make another run to get under 9 but then we had to foul and they made the shots.
I don't think I've seen Kerns as fired up as he was as he was tonight. He was not happy (deservedly so) with the officiating, not to mention that bald headed assistant for Wake.
Someone mentioned that Abson seemed off his game and he did some really reluctant to try to score. Of course, in the Sun Belt he doesn't face bigs like Wake puts out there. And, we remain 0fer in NCAA and NIT games. Let's hope this lousy feeling the guys must feel right now will serve to motivate them next year.

That's a difference maker - I know some of those were the fouls in the last 1-2 mins but for two teams who play a similar style game that difference is very telling......we outscored them from the floor

I’ve not seen Kerns react like that in his tenure. The call was terrible.
Core is coming back, excited to see what the team can do if everyone sticks together.

Yep…ACC gonna do ACC things.
I knew we were in for a long night when CJ got called for the foul when Wake’s guy pulled him down from behind…by his head.
