Over/under Wins
FanDuel has posted under/over wins for SBC schools:
8.5 - JMU, Texas St, ULL
7.5 - App
6.5 - Ark St, Marshall, Troy, USA
5.5 - CCU, GS
4.5 - GA St, ODU, S.Miss
1.5 - ULM - ouch
7.5 seems low for us.
CCU, S Miss, ULM look like good over bets.

Re: Over/under Wins
I haven’t looked at the schedules but I get Texas State with McCloud added. LaLa coach says this is their year. JMU is starting anew. I would think we would be favored in the East anyway.

Re: Over/under Wins
They play Grambling, Kennasaw St, Tulane, Wake, easily OOC schedule. Also they play the west, CCU, and us in conference. We get IMO the two of the three favorites in the West ULL and USA. I am glad we avoid Texas St.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2024 4:25 pmExplain UL at 8.5 and App at 7.5. This isn’t two years ago.

Any time you have a very good QB you have a chance to win - Tx St
The science of handicapping G5 isn't as precise....I really like APP having the best year in a while

Do it every year so here it is...
1. ETSU - Win
2. @Clemson - Loss
3. @ECU - Win
4. S Alabama - Win
5. Liberty - Win
6. @Marshal - Loss
7. @Louisiana - Win
8. Georgia St - Win
9. ODU - Win
10. @Coastal - Win
11. James Madison - Win
12. @ Georgia Southern - Win
Thats a 10-2 season. We could lose at Libery and win at Marshal...I just haven't seen what I need to see to feel confident about this team having the heart and toughness to win every road conference game. I hope I'm wrong.
I think we figure things out against ETSU, look good at times against Clemson, see it start to come together at ECU then hit our stride against S Alabama. If we can hang tough through Lib/Mar/UL we can get it right for the CCU/JMU/GSU run to the end.
We have tough stretches gapped with breathers and the only double away stretch at Marshall/UL which will be tough...if we get through that we control our destiny.
Its gonna be a fun one this year.

I feel better about our chances with Wiles at QB2 than I did with Wright.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2024 6:34 pmDo it every year so here it is...

I don’t think we should judge the heart and toughness of the team in May. The team showed a lot of that down the stretch last year fwiw.

I think it's fair to question any attribute of a team until it's shown to be otherwise. Last year's team was just that, last years...We have new LBs, new OLs/DLs and DBs. We need to see that they have the onions to get the job done.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2024 6:39 pmI don’t think we should judge the heart and toughness of the team in May. Re: Over/under Wins
I don’t disagree, I think it is fair to question the mettle of a team because as you said, it’s a new team. I’m not sure that heart and toughness are the things that need to be seen. We had essentially the same team from 2022 returning from 2021 and we saw what happened there.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Sun May 26, 2024 6:56 amI think it's fair to question any attribute of a team until it's shown to be otherwise. While this team lost a leader and well respected player in the passing of Murphy, they believe in Joey, and Clark. Leadership on terms of player voice is what I’m interested in seeing.

I'm sure the team believes and follows Joey/Clark on offense but whos the defensive leaders? Jordan Favors & Brendan Harrington?...Honest question

Re: Over/under Wins
That’s an interesting question. I think that the defense has two leaders. Even though he no longer plays and the status of the other is in question, KaRon White and Harrington are the guys in charge of that group. Both are well respected and genuinely nice dudes.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Sun May 26, 2024 8:05 amThats better said AppSt94, thank you...I question the mettle of the team at the point.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun May 26, 2024 7:08 amI don’t disagree, I think it is fair to question the mettle of a team because as you said, it’s a new team. I myself am curious who steps up and takes the leadership role on.

Re: Over/under Wins
This staff has won 9+ in three of four years and averaged 8.5 wins. Not sure why 7.5 would make sense with all we have back?
When will "It's better than what we had" no longer be good enough for App State?

Re: Over/under Wins
From the outside app will probably be dogs to Troy, Clemson and liberty. I think they are all winnable games but those 3 plus a head scratcher or 2 is a fair betting assessment in my opinion from an outside source. I think 9 wins with a CCG appearance is most likely
Edit: I’m also assuming those are regular season wins not counting bowls or championship games

Road games will be where we can stub our toes. Can we figure out the Coastal conundrum? I think we've had better teams in a couple of recent losses to them. GaSouthern has a history for messing up our season
