The problem isn't that it was a concern, the problem is how that information was leaked, how it was leaked, and the commentary about Cam as a person surrounded it. There was a lot of vitriol directed to Cam from both fans, donors, and people who are relatively close to the program; to include people on this board and the 247 Board. A lot of it was unnecessary and I said as much at the time. These are college students, after all, and Cam left as one of App's most productive running backs in program history. Yet he is treated the same as maybe a Rod Chisholm who never really lived up to the expectations when he signed.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2024 4:54 pmI am not exactly sure what happened but there was reason to worry about him leaving because his mother and Cam himself made comments that would lead you to believe they were. I appreciate Cam staying and not chasing NIL but he really disappointed me as a senior because he in fact quit on the team. If he has physical evidence to prove something that our coaches did wrong then I am open to seeing it but I am not going to just take his word. He will need to back up any bad claims he has.ericsaid wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 10:21 amThis is true. Every off-season some shit would come out about Cam being a cancer or Cam transferring or Cam being this or that. I’d imagine his stories will pertain to that.
Personally, I don’t blame him for that part but he’s kind of leaning into making them seem true depending on how he responds to this.
I don’t know why the Burger’s are upset though. Ryan got hurt, Joey came in and threw 40+ touchdowns by the end of the year and is App’s first legitimate NFL prospect at QB, maybe ever. So they can chill on whatever they are chirping about in the comments.
Some people are just different, and good ol' boy clubs like the App State fans close to the program don't like different. They want conformity. Cam is a colorful guy and that emotional presence bothers some because it goes against the grain of what people expect "men" to be.
So for those of you close to the program, who know people, and who know coaches, leave the personal commentary out of the public sphere. It does nothing to promote anything and only damages peoples reputations and the only recourse they have to counter that is to publicize things that would otherwise remain behind closed doors.
