We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

We all have opinions. And expressing those opinions is a right. Some of you are the most disrespectful folks I’ve ever seen. The beauty of social media. Say anything you want and, I guess, feel fulfilled. This is not aimed at all by any means, but for those of you who are fans, donate the minimum, if any, to the Yosef Club and feel you have a better understanding of college athletics…… who the hell do you think you are?

In 2017 Coastal lost at home by 42 to Western Illinois with Chadwell as coach.311neers wrote: ↑Sun Sep 22, 2024 12:00 pmWould be interesting to see when the last time Coastal JMU and the others above us have gotten beat by 40 at home. The scheduling for the USA game was garbage and, regardless of the result, should have never happened. USA getting Northwestern State, a terrible FCS program, on a Thursday specifically to give them a week to prepare for App, while App had an away game that saw them get home on Sunday morning, is a joke.

Re: BOT Chair comments about the game
I got to be honest and am sure I'll get roasted for this, but the game day experience at Kidd Brewer really is lacking. Anyone who has attended an ACC or SEC game for the most part will find it hard to disagree. I get that these are not peer schools, but if we have the expectations that we want to compete with the big boys, the experience should match. I walked across thw campus before the ETSU game with a friend and his son (an App recruit mind you) only to watch a bunch of staggering drunk Frat kids falling all over themselves and yelling profanities. Very little if any police presence was there andMrCraig wrote: ↑Sun Sep 22, 2024 9:23 amExactly. The game experience is fun because the team wins most of the time. Yes, it’s a social as well as sporting event, but more people show up, stay for the whole game, and in turn spend more money when the game is good.
App doesn’t want to become the G5 equivalent of Ole Miss who for years claimed to have “never lost a party” because the tailgating was more fun than watching the game.
I'm pretty sure several were underage. It was embarrassing. That is an aside. The stadium itsself is the most uncomfortable thing to sit in, no coordinated chants other than App-State, bathroom situations sucks, kids have more fun rolling in mud than cheering on the home team, the band is very hard to hear and I'm not an old guy, the amount of vaping allowed in the stands is ridiculous, especially when it smells like weed, etc, etc. I love this school and have been proud to bring people up the mountain to show it off, but they have been underwhelmed, especially as of late. I will still be in the stands to cheer them on, but just feel as if we are missing an opportunity. Before you roast me, I will offer solutions. Enforce the vaping restrictions in the stands, find another spot other than the heart of campus for the drunk kids, hold something equivalent to the midnight yell that Texas A&M does (didn't work out for them against App a few years ago) to coordinate cheers, bring back Bugler's Dream, and change the intro back to Hells Bells/Back in Black. There's my gripes and my solutions. As for the bathroom situation, it's going to take a new stadium upgrade for that. Roast away.
P.S. the jet fly over Thursday night was very cool.

The stadium experience is similar to the play on the field in a lot of ways. Better than most peer institutions, but still a ways away from the “big boys.”

We really need to stick with things. Every season if not every other game we change something with the band the pa and or chants and cheers. You can’t build a tradition when change things the way we do.AppDub wrote: ↑Sun Sep 22, 2024 1:52 pmI got to be honest and am sure I'll get roasted for this, but the game day experience at Kidd Brewer really is lacking. I have to add to that as it does not look like what I mean. Shawn has been a line coach. He just didn't have the experience to take over that job. The expectations were just beyond his experience. How many line coaches go direct to head coach? Coordinators get those jobs not line coaches. The reason I said he needs to go is that anything less than 10 wins every season brings out the pitchforks. He deserves better.

I just listened to the 2:27 min comments. I appreciate someone posting it for my convenience.
I started reading some initial comments on this thread and got the idea of most posters. Then I skipped to end as I was not going to read 4 more pages.
Here is my take. I know what he is trying to do from a PR perspective and don’t have any problem with it. He is trying to diffuse the knee neck reaction and remind everyone that we are in a long game here. In that role that is completely understandable to me. However, I bet you that doesn’t mean that accountability will not be expected behind closed doors. Folks must realize there is a big difference between that forum and behind closed doors. I read those initial comments before watching video and almost immediately anticipated what I was about to watch. And it was about what I was expecting
There is a time and place for tempering the crowd wanting a scalp vs methodically and wisely handling a troubling situation.
Let’s keep that in mind. This doesn’t mean there wont be an appropriate action in the future.

I would think the DG presentation was done and completed well before the the Friday meeting. Typically the materials are sent out in advance for members to review.

Re: BOT Chair comments about the game
The campus badly needed newer and better dorms but...... Losing the stadium lot 100% DESTROYED the game day experience. I've been to a number of stadiums, including some of the bigger ones, South Carolina, NC State, and Tennessee, for example, and the walk-ups are great as you pass through all sorts of tailgating, bars, and great atmospheres. Our stadium location, while beautiful, will always hold back our gameday experience. It's nestled into the side of a hill. You either have to go uphill or downhill to get to it. Very little open parking nearby anymore. If I stand at the gates, then the only thing I see are people walking to enter. I don't see the pregame experience. You can still get on Google Maps and see the street view of what once was.AppDub wrote: ↑Sun Sep 22, 2024 1:52 pmI got to be honest and am sure I'll get roasted for this, but the game day experience at Kidd Brewer really is lacking. We don't have any great pregame traditions. No on-campus bonfire. No traditional walk-ups. No traditional chants outside of the aforementioned App State chant. The amenities were not designed with 30k people in mind. Yosef still doesn't have a cabin up on the hill where he comes out and shoots off his gun when we score a touchdown. There isn't much that's iconic about our stadium. We blocked the view of Howard's knob. A crappy muddy hill? Please, we should have bowled that in years ago. They could have just been concrete step-style seats, and it would have been better.
This biggest kicker, though, is that short of building the stadium somewhere else, I don't think there is much of a solution to our biggest issues. I think a poor gameday experience is something we are going to have to live with unless they can find the money for some hardcore renovations.
