We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Why would we even consider Mack?
His shelf life would be 3 to 4 years at most. Wasn't he already the oldest HC in D1 P5 schools?

It is unfortunate that things didn't work out in the end for Shawn. He was one of us, an APP guy through and through. I wish him the best. But, I agree that this was a needed change. Now, we need to make sure we get this hire right. I am excited to see who the next man up will be. Go APP!

Not saying I'm interested in him but I think no one we hire is likely to last any longer.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 2:56 pmWhy would we even consider Mack?

Re: Pete Thamel- App State Fires Shawn Clark
This is true. The most we can expect is probably the 5 year plan. And that is if they aren't doing too good and we have to get rid of them again. Otherwise if they are doing well they go to a higher paying job, before 5 years.97grad wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 2:59 pmNot saying I'm interested in him but I think no one we hire is likely to last any longer.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 2:56 pmWhy would we even consider Mack?

Mack was brought back to UNC to appease boosters and raise money. I'm not sure how much sideline coaching he was actually doing. Seemed like his coordinators were running the show.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 2:56 pmWhy would we even consider Mack?

Re: Pete Thamel- App State Fires Shawn Clark
1982 was the last time we fired a coach. Great things happened afterward. In 1982 our assistant coaches were still teaching classes. We have come a long way since then. I wish Coach Clark the best and hope that he is successful. He has loved our University and only tried to make it better. Back in the day I had Sparky Woods for football methods class and the first thing he said is there are two types of coaches. One that has been fired and the other that will get fired. If you stay in the profession long enough it will most likely happen. As an individual that has been fired from a program, I know how tough it is on the ego and family.

This is a questionable stat as many would argue that we fired Coach Moore. I know that has all been hashed out before, but some would dispute that 1982 was the last time we fired a football coach.Schundy38 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 3:15 pm1982 was the last time we fired a coach. I used to think that Dean Smith could recruit/pick players in a day as he had his choice of All Americans. Until the last few years it probably wasn’t difficult to sign great recruits at Carolina. Mack could sign them but could not get them to win big games consistently. We need that firey guy who will win with less.

Re: Pete Thamel- App State Fires Shawn Clark
It had to be done, Clark's a nice guy but at the end of the day this is a program which considers a bad year one where we are just going to a bowl game and not in the hunt for a conference championship. This is the worst record in over a decade, we have standards and they aren't being met. Maybe beating GaSo and going to a bowl game could have saved him, but it's been obvious for a while that the program needed change.

Re: Pete Thamel- App State Fires Shawn Clark
I’ve heard more negatives from former players than positives regarding the state of the program under Shawn. Much more negative .

Not to be too cold, but that was the easy part. Bringing someone in to fix things is the hard part.

Re: Pete Thamel- App State Fires Shawn Clark
Very sad day and hate it had to happen. Shawn Clark is App Fam and has bled more than his fair share of black and gold. No doubt he gave his all for Appalachian State.
But it was necessary, our record proves it. Hopeful for the future but in today's landscape, I'm not overly optimistic.
Not sure Steve Wilks wants a college job but I think it's worth the conversation. After that, I got nothing.

Re: Pete Thamel- App State Fires Shawn Clark
Keep in mind Shawn isn’t the only person that lost their job today. It’s likely that all the coaches and staffers just lost their jobs.l as well. Tough day on the mountain. Necessary, but still tough.
Hope they all land on their feet, and wish them nothing but the best.
Excited about to future. Let’s get back to our dominate ways.
GO APPS!!
