Re: Seeding Scenarios
The tournament overall is a missed opportunity. Frankly , the SoCon tournaments had better venues, atmosphere and just the vibe of March Madness. I’ve been coming down here each year out of loyalty to support the team and have reached the conclusion that either the conference staff is inept or just doesn’t care.

I feel like they should truncate the travel portion. If we’re gonna have a week of games why not tackle everything below Quarterfinals at home.Stonewall wrote: ↑Thu Mar 06, 2025 6:03 pmThe tournament overall is a missed opportunity. No matter how the tournament ends up, I have the pleasure of knowing Stink lost before we ever played a game in the tournament.
We get ODU Part 3. Hard to beat a team 3 times. Let's do it!!

We split with them, each winning away from home.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 5:54 amNo matter how the tournament ends up, I have the pleasure of knowing Stink lost before we ever played a game in the tournament.

Re: Seeding Scenarios
If we just keep stating that we won both games, it will become fact. We just have to believe it to be true.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 7:18 amThat is what I was thinkingNattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 6:44 amWe should have wonhapapp wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 6:34 amWe split with them, each winning away from home.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 5:54 amNo matter how the tournament ends up, I have the pleasure of knowing Stink lost before we ever played a game in the tournament.

Re: Seeding Scenarios
App -8.5 vs. ODU, my goodness that is free money. No injuries per Oddstracker, that line is way too big.

Re: Seeding Scenarios
Solid Final 4 teams for Sun Belt tournament. Any of those 4 would be a hard out in the NCAA first round

Re: Seeding Scenarios
Looks like Troy & Arkansas St playing for a bid. As much as it sucks not to see App there both these teams will be good representatives.
I feel like the new Sunbelt format worked as intended. It's not as though any of the underdogs won four straight only to lose last night...
Now if they can just solve for the tournament environment. I still think they need to bite the bullet and host every round before the quarterfinal games at a homesite. Figure out a way to play the homesite games on the Saturday before tournament week then the teams travel down Thursday for the quarterfinals. Maybe a bit earlier... Attendance is terrible as it is. Instead of looking for each team to draw 200+ people, try and pull the big numbers from the teams with a good shot. I know ESPN plays into this a bit, but ideally Friday/Saturday/Sunday games.

Re: Seeding Scenarios
It did wind up guaranteeing that the top 4 made the semis but, it seemed to work better for 3 and 4 playing a game before the semis, as both 1 and 2 were one and done.agentpaul001 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 4:28 amLooks like Troy & Arkansas St playing for a bid. Re: Seeding Scenarios
1 through 4 all had the same record. The two best teams are playing for the championship. Plan worked great in my opinion.

Re: Seeding Scenarios
Factually, seeds 1 and 2 both lost. Perhaps the format actually rewarded teams 3 and 4 with a game in the arena the day before . Given the actual results there is a strong argument for that. 2-0.

Re: Seeding Scenarios
I didn't see what the tie breaking rules were, but Arkansas State and Troy looked like the best teams throughout the year. Having said that, the extra long layoff for teams that close together can't be a good thing unless you're getting someone back from an injury. It'll be interesting to see how it goes next year if the format returns.

Re: Seeding Scenarios
Arky State has the talent, top to bottom. My opinion, they underperformed in the regular season. Scott Cross got the most out of his crew , as did Riley. Cross has always been friendly and respectful the times we have spoken. I’ll pull for Troy.

Re: Seeding Scenarios
No postseason for us. Not that any of thought we would be. There are some pretty bad teams in the NIT/CBI
