We've spent a lot of time talking about all the unknowns around App, but is Charlotte any good? I literally don't know anything about Charlotte because I don't care about them. Should we win this game no matter what, or could this be one of their few wins against us?
Top to bottom through the rotation and roster, App is more talented. Harrell is a mobile QB that struggles with passing the ball, so we can make them one dimensional and force their WRs to beat our DBs. I will take our DBs everyday, and in every game this year as a matter of fact.

I don’t believe the game will be a blowout because our last two victories against them were not either. 2020 was a 1 point game until the 4 quarter where we ultimately won by two scores. Even 2019 was a two score game and that was one of our most talented teams in FBS history.

I expect another two score win personally because the talent difference will eventually show itself. I’m expecting a lower scoring game in the range of 24-10 or something just because both teams will need a feeling out period for themselves and the opponent.

Back to game...The line has fallen to APP -6.5, for all the unknowns, just win.

The Kanye ACL injury news was in the App State game notes released Monday, hence the "officially confirmed."

I'm gonna make a Bingo card for Dowell pressers and put a bunch of NFL players he coached in the spots. If that player is mentioned, mark the spot.

What I found interesting is the claim that players ran 1,000 more reps this fall camp compared to last year.
To be clear, he said “training camp”, which includes Fall and Spring.
The NFLish lexicon is gonna take some getting use to.

I don't know the exact way to describe it, but I did hear the team was running full 11v11 plays on each end of the field, hence the higher amount of reps per player.

I think Harrell will be better than people think. UNC OC did not adjust the offense to his strengths. I hope we make him look bad....means our D is improved

It’s one of those coach speak things. He called the spring game “preseason game 1” but is it really when you deal with the portal after spring and so many start in the summer? Probably dependent on the position itself. You could consider the spring game for the QB room but probably not for DT and LB.

Practices are ran more efficiently and there is a stronger emphasis on development in both skills and leadership.

We are already dealing with the injury bug unfortunately. A couple (2-3) expected contributors are unlikely to play this week as well. It’s also affecting the QB decision by the cause and effect principle. Certain QBs build chemistry with certain players, which can effect how each QB performs.

There could be some overreactions for offense after the game but they aren’t full strength at the moment.

Just win is the motto. Boise and USM should be a better glimpse of the offensive capabilities.

I did like how Dowell talked about the Leadership Council with players from all the classes being involved.

Having different captains for each game is interesting.

Do we know what kind of offense they are going to run? We didn't fare so well against mobile quarterbacks last year

Likely a spread style offense with emphasis on running the ball. It will be a good immediate test for the new defensive scheme.

Expect some no-huddle, designed QB runs, RPO, etc.. I don’t know how fast-paced it will be considering it is week 1 but speed and conditioning will be tested.

I am sure there will be some differences but I wanted to see a few of their games in that view to get an idea of what to expect so I cut on the all-22 or coach's tape and saw a good bit of that.

I've read in the past that Vegas views regular position starters injuries effect game lines very minimumly, but a starting QB being out can effect game lines by a TD or more. In our case, there is a lot unknown in week 1, especially at QB.

Can you shed some light on 2-3 contributors being injured???

Isn't part of the issue with the below that Mr. Scrambler basically posted the injury about Kanye (after someone else had posted) ..and had basically the same wording and the same picture of Kanye in his post...and did not give credit?. If true... whether intentional or an honest mistake... isn't that frowned upon in the world of journalism?
The world of social media can be harsh as people typing behind a computer screen have cyber courage to say things they would not normally say in person. If someone makes a mistake or inappropriate comments on social media, the social medias wolves will feast. Do I like it, no. ..but any rational adult knows that this goes with the territory on social media.... especially someone holding themselves out as a journalist, blogger, etc.

"You should ask some people why they trash talk this board but post on both and why some have made snide remarks that come off as insults on Weston Scambler when we are all Mountaineers and should act like adults."
It could have been an honest mistake. Was it the exact same wording? I didn’t pay that close of attention or see it in the other place.

Regardless, Weston is a college student and not a pro. He is one of ours and very young so people should reach out to mention things like that to him instead of trash him. I don’t want to run him off. One day he could be on ESPN or somewhere and will remember how his own people treated him. We need to encourage instead of trash him.
Has nothing to do with being a pro or a student in this case. If the kid is in college, his generation is savvy enough to know the ethics of social media posting.
As stated, do I like the world we live in where social media wolves are ready to pounce on social media mistakes, no. However, it comes with the territory.

If he is in it for the long haul to make s career out of it, he will get over it. If this did occur, he should have had his mea culpa follow up post and people move on
I don’t know if it occurred. The original author should reach out to him. They might not have an issue with it.

I agree with you on social media but just feel like our own people could be nicer. He will face attacks from fans of other schools for sure.

This current college generation doesn’t go by same ethics as media use to. Remember that back in the day you had to have a degree and be hired by someone to publish info. Anyone can make a social media account and post now. There is no degree requirement and many of them have a regular day job and just pose as a media person for fun hoping a serious entity hires them.
The credential police really get on my nerves. I'd trust a journalist who has a degree outside of journalism moreso than a journalist who has a degree in journalism. They become an expert in journalism rather than what it is that they are writing about and that's why we have such a gullible national media at this point. They aren't taught the what, so they run with it.

As for Scrambler, I have a feeling he is using ChatGPT a lot. You write a rough draft of what you want, paste it into ChatGPT and ask it to clean it up, and it'll produce something professional. It will give prompts to write on as well. Journalism, as we know it, will soon be dead. Good writers will be gone, deep thinkers will be gone, and quality content will be in this feedback loop that is ChatGPT, as it pulls it's information from the internet as well.
