I don't know who it is. I'm just going by what David Jackson said.

Looks like it's Akron in 2016/2017. Per Tommy Bowman.

Yay! That's 2 games I'll get to see in the coming years. Akron's about 2.5 hours from me.

I wish we wouldn't go that far into the future as most FBS teams do because there might be bigger fish to fry down the road.

Thinking like that is what gets you games with Campbell.

I may be in the minority but I really like our scheduling philosophy. You have got to walk before you run and these games we are scheduling are against teams that we will have a real shot at beating. These are games that can and will count towards becoming bowl eligible and like it or not, we need that to get our school and team in the national eye.

I don't think you're in the minority there, at least around here. I'll take winnable games that count toward bowl eligibility with return games over sacrifice money games at BCS schools any day.

Akron definitely should be a winnable game. As always, I look at these with an eye toward recruiting. I don't think App has ever really had a presence in Ohio, but I wonder if we might use these as a way to try to expand our recruiting footprint? Lots of talent in that area.

If nothing else, it's a likely FBS win and one more point towards bowl eligibility. Landing in those games is perhaps the greatest recruiting tool of all.

I'm very pleased with all three of the series we just announced. We should be able to compete against each of those schools, no doubt in my mind. Also, none of them are too far away so we should be able to get a decent number of fans to support the team on the road. Great job by Jay and company on getting these games set. Now it's time to schedule some P5 schools!

True to all of the above but in the future can we control the hyperbole with the thread titles? None of these games is what I wouldcall "huge"

It's a lot better than the past. One step at a time. We're slowly building our schedule and hopefully our reputation for good hard nose defense and exciting/explosive offense will continue as well.

it is HUGE scheduling new though. these are the first OOC home and home series we scheduled as FBS members and the first OOC FBS teams that we are bringing in to The Rock. just b/c they're not the big names some were hoping to see, it is still huge news regarding our future in FBS football

Other than the Montana and MCNeese series these three series are hands down the biggest OOC home games in the last 15 years.

Based on a scan of 2012 FBS team-by-team attendance:

If we assume a Home & Home partner will need to have similar attendance for it to make economic sense here are some of the FBS candidates (all number are '000s):
UTEP 29
FIU 13
FAU 13
La Tech 25
Marshall 25
MTSU 17
N. Texas 19
Rice 20
S. Miss 25
Tulane 18
Tulsa 20
UAB 15
Cinci 29
UConn 34
Houston 27
Memphis 24
SMU 21
Temple 26
UCF 34
Boston College 37
Duke 28
Wake 29
Baylor 41
Army 32
Navy 32
Air Force 32
Boise St 35
Colorado St 19
Fresno St 30
Hawaii 30
Nevada 23
New Mexico 22
SDSU 30
SJSU 10
UNLV 15
Utah St. 20
Wyoming 22
Ball St 13
Bowling Green 15
Buffalo 13
C. Mich 16
E Mich 4
Kent St 18
Miami (OH) 15
N. Ill 20
Ohio 21
Toledo 20
W. Mich 20

Within the next 10 years, I think we can all agree the service academies aren't coming to Boone. Boise St isn't either. Strike Baylor, BC, UConn and UCF. Other long-shots are Duke, Hawaii, Fresno and SDSU.

Then you start to look at what's left and I think we have a pretty good starting Home/Home slate. There will be more to come for sure. Regional away games like we've had in the past against ECU, Va Tech, maybe a S. Carolina and a Clemson too. I'm sure Wake will host us again before 2023.

My point is, I like what the Athletic Department has strung together so far. It's logical and realistic for a team in transition.

I would love to have home/home with Notre Dame, USC, and Alabama. But I didn't expect it!

IT"S GREAT TO BE A MOUNTAINEER!!

Taking it a step further...here are a couple of series' I would like to see and that I think have a legitimate chance of happening within 10 years:

Home/Home:
Memphis
SMU
Marshall
UNLV

2 for 1:
ECU

Away Only could be anyone, but here's who I'd like:
Clemson, Duke, Maryland, NC State, Virginia, Wake Forest, Northwestern, Ole Miss, S. Carolina, Tennessee, Vandy
We'll see where it all shakes out, but lets hope for a great off-season filled with only multi-star recruits, great performance in the classroom, and no off the field issues!

We haven't taken our first FBS snap and you're calling it "a likely FBS win". I'm afraid some of you guys underestimate how difficult this transition is going to be.
