Is Tennessee booked for 2015? I heard a rumor a couple months ago that they were in the mix for an upcoming BCS game.78appst wrote:Per FB Schedules, schools with open dates in 2015 within 300 miles from Boone are: WFU, UNC, Va. That's a good point about the comp tickets. Does anyone know what the season ticket count is at?Cincy App wrote: Our game at Michigan will clear $1 million less travel expenses. Even if we draw 30k for a home game, remember that our attendance number includes students (no additional revenue above student athletic fee) and ticket comps (more free tickets than most would think). We also will have a contractual payout to make to the visiting team for a nonconference game if a one game arrangement. We clear significantly more money with a BCS road game that has a large payout.
If we have 10,000 paid at an average of ~$25 that is only $250,000. 15,000 would be $375,000.
Also I thought I heard Season ticket price and Yosef donation levels would not go up next year. Can anyone verify that?

Tennessee would be a logical future opponent for us. UT-K is booked through 2015 but has schedule openings beginning in 2016.ASUDieHard wrote:Is Tennessee booked for 2015? I heard a rumor a couple months ago that they were in the mix for an upcoming BCS game.

I believe David Jackson announced that on Mountaineer Talk a few weeks back.bh2oson wrote:That's a good point about the comp tickets. I'd like to see home and homes with Wake, Duke, ECU and Marshall somewhere in our near future.GlassOnion wrote:Would love a match up with WVU. Just my 2 cents.

Im willing to be a little patient on the home/home series, that may take a lot of politics. We should, however, be able to sign some good away games from the get go. The bigger names we play, the faster we'll build a brand.Apptiger wrote:I'd like to see home and homes with Wake, Duke, ECU and Marshall somewhere in our near future.GlassOnion wrote:Would love a match up with WVU. Re: Huge scheduling news coming
That is what I would like to see also. I really would like our out of conference games against teams at our level. I have no interest in playing FCS teams like Western that can't compete. I also am tired of playing the VTs and the LSUs that we can't compete with. I understand the money end but I at least want to go into a game having a chance.Apptiger wrote:I'd like to see home and homes with Wake, Duke, ECU and Marshall somewhere in our near future.GlassOnion wrote:Would love a match up with WVU. I completely understand your points and don't disagree - I do have a question --- Would you take the "sure" win over the WCUs of the world if they insure a bowl berth? ---bcoach wrote:That is what I would like to see also. No I still would not for two related reasons. First I think the bar is too low to get into a bowl and second playing the WCUs to get in lowers the bar further.WVAPPeer wrote:I completely understand your points and don't disagree - I do have a question --- Would you take the "sure" win over the WCUs of the world if they insure a bowl berth? ---bcoach wrote:That is what I would like to see also. I am glad you didn't make the schedule back in '07.

Are you asking about playing 2 FCS homes instead of 1 FCS and 1 BCS game?WVAPPeer.
wrote: I completely understand your points and don't disagree - I do have a question --- Would you take the "sure" win over the WCUs of the world if they insure a bowl berth? ---
If so I like our current model of only 1 FCS game. If we have to rely on a win over an FCS team to get to 6-6 we most likely won't have a shot at a bowl anyway.

Re: Huge scheduling news coming
We also have 22 more players now, and overall they'll be better athletes than what we put on the field against those teams. Plus in the VT game we were completely unprepared to play that day. Can't use it as a measuring stick.TheMoody1 wrote:bcoach wrote:I also am tired of playing the VTs and the LSUs that we can't compete with. Re: Huge scheduling news coming
Well we did put on uniforms and went out on the field so it must be used. With that aside Michigan is the only team of that caliber we have beaten. Now maybe some day it will be more realistic but for the foreseeable future I would rather stick to the Wakes and Dukes of the world than the LSUs. Just my feelings.JTApps1 wrote:We also have 22 more players now, and overall they'll be better athletes than what we put on the field against those teams. Re: Huge scheduling news coming
The big boys play the WCUs and Elons of FCS and I'm sure it is to assure a victory to add to the total - why else would they pay 300K for someone to come and play at their home? --- I'm not disagreeing with your points - just asking questions ---bcoach wrote:No I still would not for two related reasons. No - not really - I was just asking if he would agree to FCS teams for a sure win if it would assure bowl eligibility ---JTApps1 wrote:Are you asking about playing 2 FCS homes instead of 1 FCS and 1 BCS game?WVAPPeer.
wrote: I completely understand your points and don't disagree - I do have a question --- Would you take the "sure" win over the WCUs of the world if they insure a bowl berth? ---

Re: Huge scheduling news coming
Yes you are exactly right and that is what I disagree with. I think it all revolves around what you feel a bowl should be. It used to be a reward for a good season and a chance for another OOC game. Now in many cases it is just an OOC game. In my opinion 6-6 is not a season to be rewarded for, nor is 7-5. 8-4 would be necessary in my book if it is something to get a trophy for. I am VERY sure I am in the minority.

Re: Huge scheduling news coming
Living in Raleigh, I'd love to even just get road games against the in-state teams. Love going to Boone, but seeing App play without making a 6-hour round trip has its appeal, too.GlassOnion wrote:Im willing to be a little patient on the home/home series, that may take a lot of politics. Would also strongly consider making the trip to Huntington if we could schedule that.
