Wow it’s great to see the names of the current players who played for us and the ones listed above were (I believe) recruited and stayed at least 4 years. Kind of sad to think back to the number of FCS era guys who made it and how much pride we had when their names got chosen. Unless something drastic happens it’s entirely possible that those days are gone. It will be hard to really get excited when a guy gets drafted and he played at App for one year then bolted to a P4. Will there even be any player drafted who went from a P4 to a G5?

The only case I see this happening now is if we have a player who is mediocre their entire time here and then happens to catch lightning in a bottle their last year of eligibility.

In your second scenario for a P4 to G5, I think the same would be true as they would bolt back to P4 if they prove themselves unless NCAA somehow actually enforces that new proposed rule where they have to sit out a year after their first penalty-free transfer.

Yeah probably right. In the first one let’s say it’s a guy whose 3rd school is App for his last year. Turns it on and somehow gets drafted. He spent one whole year in Boone. Splitting hairs here but how many folks really embrace that one year player as an “App guy”? This could go on all day but for me it’s hard to really care. Oh well

Traditionally I think of an "APP guy" as someone who stayed 4 years wether they played or sat on the bench. That would be a rarity today and probably for the foreseeable future. To be fair that 4 year requirement needs to be revised to maybe a 2 year stay and graduation from App, otherwise there really are no "APP guys" anymore or very few at the most. It's a sad thing. I think about all the guys who played and stayed here for 4 years and wonder what thier lives would be like today if they'd left after 1 or 2 years. Armanti always comes to mind as one we surely would have lost. What would that have done to the program, how much would we have been diminished. Really, what would the stadium look like, on and on. It's too depressing to dwell on.

We also had those great seasons when we also knew a huge number of guys on the 2 deep were coming back. Gone are the days of solid sophomore players who will play 2 more years at the Rock.

Be glad we were all here for the peak of App State and probably college football.

We all got to have a front seat to a remarkable 15-year pinnacle stretch from 05-20. What we had is gone forever, unfortunately.

Former App WR Robinson gets tryout with Jets. Posting this here since he did not actually play anywhere else and did not get a chance due to injury before.

Still nobody from this class has gotten a chance. Since we knew this would be bad after the pro day I really expected Loggains to use his connections and get a couple players a tryout so we don't get shutout this year. Anyone know why he has not done it?

I don't think it has ever been an issue of his "head being on straight", he just processes things differently. It isn't about ability or perceived effort with Dalton, it is about dealing with struggles that most of us don't have to deal with and the perception that causes. He gave his all for App, even if that didn't measure up to what a lot of fans thought it should have.

His learning disability makes him a huge question mark. A coach will have to heavily cater to him and probably get some help with how to deal with it. The talent is there and if they can overcome his disability then he could have a nice career up there for sure.

Very sad. This is probably going to be the closest we see to former App players in the pros on the football end for this thread for a while. As of now, I would say odds are good we don't have a single player get a shot in the NFL for 2 years in a row after this coming season unless someone has a breakout year like Cummings this past year.
