Re: Vol Football (Aguilar watch)
His INT numbers were bad last year but I’ll always contend that like 25% of that was him and 75% the situation we put him in. We started damn near every game in a 14-0 hole and then had to throw the ball a ton to try to claw our way back. Defenses knew it and could just sit back and wait.

Ending up at Tenn instead of UCLA may lead to some even bigger opportunities.... the bruins looked terrible last night.

I’m truly sorry. He was playing P and G teams apparently with FCS Talent.

Re: Vol Football (Aguilar watch)
Hypothetical and hindsight remark but I often wonder if we should’ve accepted the ball first last season. Only got the ball first twice last year.
Just like today, it would let Joey have no pressure playing from behind rather than nearly always being down 7 to start the game.

I don’t think it really matters that much when your defense is Swiss cheese.AppGrad20 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 13, 2025 3:34 pmHypothetical and hindsight remark but I often wonder if we should’ve accepted the ball first last season. Only got the ball first twice last year.

100%. I never understood the hate on him. It was obvious he was improvising and gun slinging to compensate for our lackluster offenseah59396 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 13, 2025 3:06 pmHis INT numbers were bad last year but I’ll always contend that like 25% of that was him and 75% the situation we put him in. In addition to the issues mentioned above, Ponce never understood Joey and didn’t know how to coach him, screaming at him for every little thing that went wrong. Given what we know about Joey’s personality/demeanor, is it surprising the lad didn't flourish under Ponce’s direction?appstatealum wrote: ↑Sat Sep 13, 2025 3:49 pm100%. Except he's not.BeauFoster wrote: ↑Sat Sep 13, 2025 8:37 amLooking forward to watching Joey today, hope he absolutely balls out. He’s a Mountaineer and I’ll cheer for him unless he gives me a reason not to
He quit on this program.
Don't care a thing about him anymore.

Re: Vol Football (Aguilar watch)
Exactly. He was once a Mountaineer but he is not anymore. He is a Vol. I wish him well because he did not leave on bad conditions but I don't care what he does. We all knew Joey was better than he looked because coaching was bad but he has 2 picks today and that was a problem last year. I don't get why we have fans obsessed with how Joey does instead of focusing on our 2025 team.appalum2003 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 13, 2025 5:28 pmExcept he's not.BeauFoster wrote: ↑Sat Sep 13, 2025 8:37 amLooking forward to watching Joey today, hope he absolutely balls out. Re: Vol Football (Aguilar watch)
In all fairness, Joey and App had moved on thinking his eligibility was exhausted then he found out he had another year once the ruling came down extending JUCO eligibility. At least that is what has been shared on here. I dont see him as quitting on App at all. Wish him nothing but the best.
