Had it been posted by a group on campus in, say, the Student Union, I would call it Freedom of Speech, and those offended should recognize the rights of that group to post it. Done that way, I don't have to like the speech, but I have to recognize, and be thankful, for that group's ability to post it.
What sort of checks and balances are in place to make sure he does not abuse his power. I assume there is something.
I don't know, but I feel the same ones that you and I have as teachers could be a start.
And I meant to include the statement that I am not accusing the RA of doing anything of the sort, or that he might for that matter. It was just a general question on what checks and balances are in place if an RA of RD became a bit of a bully and used their position of power in such a way.
That I do not know. I was never an RA, but I did get busted by a vindictive few times as a freshman.
Busted for things you should not have been doing but was overlooked by others or busted for things that truly was not an offense of any kind?

Long story short, I had to fight off a charge that was more or less fabricated by him against me. Then, after I proved my innocence, he skated by with a warning (nothing more than a slap on the wrist), he had it in for me the rest of the year.

What kind of power does an RA really have? In theory, he could frame someone for a crime, but student courts have the ultimate say in such matters.
Doesn't really matter if he has any power. He used his position as a state employee to spread his message. That is the problem. The message is irrelevant, it's that he used his position as an employee to advance the message.

I agree, I agree, I agree.

I said it in the earlier thread. The ONLY problem I have about this issue is that the person posting the board is an ASU employee.....and one that directly supervises students and can "punish" them.

He IMO....is walking on thin ice!

Dang....KonKord and Kannapolis--agrees!

That is a shame. Sorry to hear that. Which gets back to the checks and balances thing, and it does create stress that one does not need.

It did convince my parents to be okay with my getting an apartment. So, it was a small price to pay.

Have you ever been outside of the south, Gonz? Serious question here.

I resent that. I thought I was considered the resident troll, at least that's in effect what El Gonzo has accused me of on many an occasion. ;)

This little spoof puts forward some salient points even as a spoof.
