sounds like what used to happen when I was a kid in Concord, NC when the Concord Spiders played against the Kannapolis (AL Brown) Wonders. I heard stories about broken antennas, etc. when I was younger. There were some intense feelings and it is the oldest football rivalry in the state of NC. I don't expect these things in a college environment, but I suppose there there are classless humans everywhere.StorminASU wrote: ↑Tue Oct 09, 2018 8:14 amWestern Carolina is the only place I've ever had App things broken/stolen from my car, but I also haven't made my inaugural trip to the Stink yet. Either way, I have a bad taste in my mouth for the trash over in Cullowhee who would do things like that for no reason.app97 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 08, 2018 8:26 pmyeah, I made that mistake once at WCU, around 10 or 12 years ago. My block A magnet was stolen.BarefootApp wrote: ↑Mon Oct 08, 2018 5:49 pmAnd don't have an Appalachian State license plate frame or any other markings on your car that would show you are an App State fan. You will have to tow it home

If you’re planning to take your kids to Gnatsboro, call the Pediatrician and make sure their shots are up to date.

The stink had a 19 page thread on their message board about our game last night with stAte. They’ve got the 25th circled with a big fat tip red sharpie to say the least.

Re: Statesboro
It is up to 22 pages now. They have it circled twice. They have high hopes for this season. Flipping thru the pages the consensus is we have a better team than them but they feel that they can beat us with a good showing at home. They seem to be looking at us without rose colored glasses which is surprising. First time I have been on that site. Actually surprised at the level of mutual hate they have for us.

Re: Statesboro
Been to Statesboro for multiple games. Never found their fans to be anything unusually negative. Have found if I make a specific effort to be friendly to folks, they are generally friendly back (at least in their main parking lot by the stadium). Not always true for drunk students, but can probably say that for most all schools.
Stayed in hotels in 'boro and in Savannah. Savannah offers more to do, obviously, but some of the newer hotels in Statesboro (Spring Hill Suites, Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn) are fine. On football weekends, many Statesboro hotels have 2-night minimum -- not at all sure about a weekday night game however.

Re: Statesboro
I guess you are right about the APP logo plate frame, the Gumroot fan wouldn't have enough sense to suspect a car with a North Carolina license plate might be an APP fan.BarefootApp wrote: ↑Mon Oct 08, 2018 5:49 pmAnd don't have an Appalachian State license plate frame or any other markings on your car that would show you are an App State fan. Re: Statesboro
Wow. Some pretty ridiculous responses in here.
In reality:
1. Yes, stay in Savannah. Mainly because the hotels in Statesboro are most likely already sold out.
2. Your kids will be just fine. As with every campus (including App State), there may be a couple bad apples... but 99% of those you run into will be normal and decent.
3. Park at the Union or the Performing Arts Center and ride the shuttles to and from the game. It's free and you get dropped off and picked up right at the stadium.
4. Anyone and everyone who makes the trip is more than welcome to come and enjoy our tailgate in the Performing Arts lot. We will have plenty of food, drinks, and a full DJ setup going. If you are interested in dropping by, PM me and I'll get you more information. You should be able to park right there as well and it is a perfectly safe area for your vehicles.
5. If you visit Savannah, don't bother with Paula Deen's place... it's an overpriced basic meal. Plenty of much, much better options.
With all of that said, I look forward to a large group of Appies headed our way. Remember that livestock must be left outside the stadium and most hotels will frown upon it as well. Best bet might be to leave the "kids" at home and just bring your human offspring. Safe travels!

If your planning the trip to Gnatsboro beware they don't have bathrooms nor portajohns for tailgating....they use beautiful Eagle Creek hence the origin of GATA.....GATA GO TO EAGLE CREEK.

I have visions of pulling into a Roadhouse bar with chicken wire fencing on the bandstage when discussing trips to Gnatsville.
KICK ASS!!!
