Statesboro
I'm thinking about making the trip to the Ga Southern game Oct 25, then possibly scooting towards the Ga coast since one of my kids is on Fall break that week. Which hotels do you guys prefer in Statesboro? I've never attended a game there and have no idea what to expect. Judging by what some have mentioned on YC, maybe it's not the best gameday environment for kids. I would have an 8 year old and 5 year old in tow if I make the trip.

I concur. Stay in Savannah.

Re: Statesboro
Don't stay in Stinkboro. You and your kids may hear some strange things at night like some banjo music followed by some inbreed GSU dudes with jacked up grills saying "Squeal Like A Pig"....
Give Em Hell!!
Re: Statesboro
I have two comments here. 1) Stay in Savannah. 2) If you take young uns down into the swamp, just be ready to explain all the bad language & behavior you are going to see. If I still had an 8 & 5 yr. old, I would not take them. I took my sons down there (now 23 & 25) for the whoopin' Armanti administered (2006?), and they were 11 & 13, and that was ... er ... interesting.app97 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 08, 2018 2:12 pmI'm thinking about making the trip to the Ga Southern game Oct 25, then possibly scooting towards the Ga coast since one of my kids is on Fall break that week. Re: Statesboro
Go to the game. Get there just before kickoff. Leave as soon as it ends. Ignore all you see and hear. Sit in App section so your kids will be somewhat buffered. STAY IN SAVANNAH.

Doubt I'll ever go to that hole again. Last time some drunk student came up to me at halftime and put his hands in my face. Only reason he got to live is that I had my toddler in my arms.

I went to one of our games in Statesboro once and didn't have any bad experiences with their fans and the cool thing was that Bobby Cremins and his wife were sitting in the App visitor section with us pulling for "his Mountaineers!"

Anywhere on the Georgia Coast is likely already booked or sky high by now. Closer to SC you go the more likely you'll be to find something. The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party is that week.app97 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 08, 2018 2:12 pmI'm thinking about making the trip to the Ga Southern game Oct 25, then possibly scooting towards the Ga coast since one of my kids is on Fall break that week. Re: Statesboro
My only time visiting there was the late 90’s during Paul Johnson’s reign of terror. A childhood friend of my wife had married a “Stinker”. They visited Boone for a couple games with us and we went to Stinkboro the year between. I wasn’t going to let the fact I might die prevent me from wearing my App gear, on their home side, great seats on the 40. Was a pretty good game, I believe Burchette was our Qb at the time. They won, which may be the only reason I made it out alive. Wear a face/head net to keep the clouds of gnats out of your eyes, ears, and any other crevice. You might adapt to the smell of the sludge ditch they call a creek. Not a pleasant environment in any way, and your kids will see and hear a lot, whether we win or lose. Everyone should experience it once so you’ll see for yourself what you aren’t missing.

And don't have an Appalachian State license plate frame or any other markings on your car that would show you are an App State fan. You will have to tow it home

Re: Statesboro
For the tenth time, stay in Savannah
I'll be skipping this one to go to Coastal this season but I've been to the last three. I imagine now that they're back that you'll run into more rowdy students. Apart from one asshole we barely heard any trash at the last one and it was honestly a little bit of a disappointment lol.

yeah, I made that mistake once at WCU, around 10 or 12 years ago. My block A magnet was stolen.BarefootApp wrote: ↑Mon Oct 08, 2018 5:49 pmAnd don't have an Appalachian State license plate frame or any other markings on your car that would show you are an App State fan. You will have to tow it home

Re: Statesboro
Western Carolina is the only place I've ever had App things broken/stolen from my car, but I also haven't made my inaugural trip to the Stink yet. Either way, I have a bad taste in my mouth for the trash over in Cullowhee who would do things like that for no reason.app97 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 08, 2018 8:26 pmyeah, I made that mistake once at WCU, around 10 or 12 years ago. Re: Statesboro
I used to flip car magnets from opposing schools upside down when I'd see them in Boone. Seemed like a pretty harmless prank that also let them know that they were in App country.app97 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 08, 2018 8:26 pmyeah, I made that mistake once at WCU, around 10 or 12 years ago.
