Re: UNC game discussion
One of the factors I like to describe is Offensive Rhythm. When you get into a Rhythm all aspects of the offense seem to feed off of each other. I think this is a by product of play calling and execution BUT I think it starts with the OC and play calling. You get the offense rolling against a particular opponent and the flow of the game feels natural like we are driving the bus. When you don't get that Rhythm going it feels like you are fighting for your life even against lesser opponents. We often times seemed to have it with Scott/Ponce combo but not always, seemed to have it with Drink, didn't have it with Peterson, and it was very inconsistent with Ponce as OC. I am hoping Barbay brings that element to our team. I think we have the QB and RBs to solidify the running but will he mix up the play calling to keep the defense on their heels? If so, our offense will do major damage to our opponents. If not, we will appear to struggle.

Re: UNC game discussion
The rankings especially on the defensive side lean heavily on the word “talent” vs actual execution. The d-line was good last year. The linebacker position is very thin and for all intents and purposes green. The secondary was terrible but the starters were highly ranked out of high school so make of that what you will. My biggest question is how will UNC’s offensive line perform. It’s basically a brand new unit so I question the B ranking as there will be no game continuity. And with an inexperienced qb and rb we have a real chance to disrupt them.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 6:28 amAnother perspective on grading UNC Depth chart

It will be interesting to see how long the first team plays for them this weekend. They could see some extended time to work on that timing in-game. Another reason I wish we were their first game this year.

Re: UNC game discussion
I think Maybe and Criswell play most, if not all, of the game. They need reps as well as the RBs. If they get a big lead, anybody's guess on how long rest of the starters play.

Re: UNC game discussion
I think this game like most every game will be won or lost in the trenches. I feel good about our running backs and wide outs despite all the concern about the receivers. The offensive line worries me a bit, they were solid last year but clearly struggled against Louisiana. I hope we spread the field and throw the ball aggressively, I don't think we can just run it down their throats.
I feel like we'll be a bit bigger on the defensive front depending on who has won the starting spots. I hope that Santana Hopper can make an impact as a Freshman, I believe he stands as the highest rated high school recruit in App's history, and was just a tick below a 4 star. Mcknight, Dingle-Prince and Earle all will need to play big as well. I think the Arkansas transfer linebacker, Parker, should help as well.
The secondary is worrisome as we all know, so hopefully the front seven can pressure quickly and help them out!

Re: UNC game discussion
After going through their 2-deep - some key battles we need to win will be the corner+safety covering Josh Downs — who seems to operate out of the slot and outside as well. Also, both of their DE’s are big dudes, if our tackles can gives Chase time and we can run inside, we’ll give them hell. I trust our O-Line so should be a good one there.

Covering Downs is a priority for sure. I’m sure we have a few different looks for he and May to contend with.

Re: UNC game discussion
A couple of guys to keep an eye on Saturday night in unc-ch
https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2023/stor ... us-richard
1. Isaiah Land, EDGE, Florida A&M
HT: 6-foot-4 | WT: 225 pounds | Class: Senior
Land, arguably the top player in the small-school ranks entering this season, finished 2021 leading the FCS in sacks (19) to go along with 25.5 tackles for loss. He entered the transfer portal and entertained multiple Power 5 offers but elected to return to the Rattlers. He's expected to continue to be one of the top disruptive forces off the edge in the country this year.
14. Xavier Smith, WR, Florida A&M
HT: 5-foot-10 | WT: 170 | Class: Graduate student
Smith is one of the most experienced players in the country. The former walk-on has become one of the main fixtures of the Rattlers' offense and is searching to regain his 2019 form, when he recorded career-highs in catches (77), receiving yards (1,159) and receiving touchdowns (11).
16. Jah'Marae Sheread, WR/RS, Florida A&M
HT: 5-foot-7 | WT: 175 | Class: Redshirt senior
Sheread transferred in from Texas State and led the nation in yards per punt return (19.9) while also handling slot receiver duties on offense. He led the team with nine receiving touchdowns in 2021. Sheread displays lots of shiftiness and play strength, making it difficult for defenders to bring him down.
34. BJ Bohler, CB, Florida A&M
HT: 5-foot-9 | WT: 180 | Class: Redshirt senior
Despite his size, Bohler has been a ball magnet on the outside for the Rattlers' defense. He finished tied for sixth in passes defensed (16) and eighth in interceptions (four) last season. Bohler could carve out a role as a valuable nickel corner moving forward, and he is also a core special-teams player.

You now have parking. Just hover your mouse over "Yosef Parking" and you can click on that link. It will then show your parking pass.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 9:14 amGeneral question. So…storming the field after the game if App wins…I say you can’t contain youthful exuberance. Some people say it shows you didn’t expect to win. Discuss.
