Re: Dowell's assistants
We don't know either way on it. I do think we need to announce soon but just because we don't know something does not mean it is not happening. He just took the job on Saturday and has had a lot of PR stuff like the press conference they have had him do. If we don't see any announcements by Monday then I will start to worry.t4pizza wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2024 4:17 pmIf he has them already, they need to be announced so they can get working on portal recruiting. I know the old staff is working at that but let’s be honest, they don’t even know if they will have a job at app state, doubt any player is listening to them all that much. We need DLs coaches making the calls to get those portal kids.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2024 2:33 pmI have heard he already has a few that have agreed to come on board and there is just a process for announcing them. I don't know any names though. It will be interesting to see if he waits to get most of staff filled out before we announce or if they start announcing names one at a time or what.

I assume so, but thought the players would want to know who the coordinators are before committing.

School has never announced assistants until all paperwork was done and they were official employeest4pizza wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2024 4:17 pmIf he has them already, they need to be announced so they can get working on portal recruiting. He has his coordinators already but we just have not heard names. I have a feeling he won't have info leak out as easily with DL. He has been in the NFL a lot and knows that loose lips sink ships. We know we will definitely hear as soon as the legal stuff is done.

It is better to have a done deal than to have to deal with some of the comments on this board.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2024 10:22 amHe has his coordinators already but we just have not heard names. Re: Dowell's assistants
Keep in mind these are employee hires by the university. So, HR processes have to be completed once the person is identified, interviewed, vetted, offered, negotiated, they put their notice in at current school, etc. They'd be stupid to announce someone before the deal is papered and inked.

Shula was named OC at South Carolina where he’ll make considerably more money than he would as OC here, but living in SC, covering SC football it would absolutely nuke that fan base if Dowell brought Shula with him. I’d love to see it.

Re: Dowell's assistants
I’m telling myself that Dowell has some coaches already lined up. While it is likely he could be portal recruiting by himself, I think it is more likely that there are coaches working on his behalf that the public just isn’t aware of.

Re: Dowell's assistants
I know some folks on facebook groups have griped about all the nfl talent that is singing the praises of Coach DLo and how APP State is pumping those praises out. I think this is strategic because things aren't set in place. That gets NFL talent (past and present) advertising our school and our coach before he starts with recruiting. I guess its a form of pre-recruiting. When high school players and portal talent look at where they want to go they will see two things. All the stuff with BB at UNC and all the NFL people singing Coach DLo's praises. I think its smart.

Are you insinuating that our administration actually has a plan for the things we’re doing moving forward and we aren’t just flying by the seat of our pants?! Man, the folks on this board aren’t going to take kindly to that kind of logic. Anyone with true inside knowledge knows we’re the least desirable G5 job in the country, we are in insurmountable amounts of debt, and Dowell Loggains was the only fool we could clown into taking our head coaching job. What a suckerASUTodd wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 1:18 pmI know some folks on facebook groups have griped about all the nfl talent that is singing the praises of Coach DLo and how APP State is pumping those praises out. I've seen some of that as well. A few of the more vocal ones are former App football players who played with Clark and seem to have an axe to grind because their buddy lost his job.ASUTodd wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 1:18 pmI know some folks on facebook groups have griped about all the nfl talent that is singing the praises of Coach DLo and how APP State is pumping those praises out. Re: Dowell's assistants
No it was masterminded by the real genius of college football-Shawn Elliott and SoCar fans in order to get rid of their worst coach in history to suckers like usMtnMan14 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 1:42 pmAre you insinuating that our administration actually has a plan for the things we’re doing moving forward and we aren’t just flying by the seat of our pants?! Re: Dowell's assistants
I know who you are talking about because I'm the one going back and forth with him! LOL I didn't like the hire at first because I had in my mind who I wanted. I don't have the inside knowledge that DG, BOT< and the Chancellor have. All I can do is look at the hire and dig around to find info on it. From what I have seen I am now ok with this hire, not that my opinion on it matters. I'll give him time to do what he needs to do and see how that translates to the field and our productivity.app97 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 1:51 pmI've seen some of that as well. Re: Dowell's assistants
I have liked what DLO has had to say so far in his interviews. He is not saying what he is going to do, he said he was going to see what he has and make the best use of it. I guess that experience in the NFL to coach the players you have will help us in the long run.
