I was attempting (perhaps poorly) to be funny or sarcastic, but yeah, that was my point too.diehardapp18 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 8:05 amWhich was his fault. He sat on a 6 point lead the whole fourth quarter and didn’t remotely try to put the game out of reachAppfaninCAALand wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 8:02 amI thought Loggains was calling offensive plays. It seemed to me the defense was on the field for the entire 4th quarter except for 6 plays? So not not much play calling going on.diehardapp18 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 6:57 amIf I had a critique from yesterday’s game it is very clearly how Loggains called plays the entire fourth quarter.
The defense in the 4th was pretty amazing. I expected them to be gassed and for the Beavers to roll down the field aftet that safety. But they held up. Great work.

This is threee straight games where I have had to listen to the other team's broadcast. (well really two since I turned off Boise early). Those Beav guys were a couple of sadsacks - I guess covering a team going 0-6 will do that to the radio guys.
App’s stream is no longer on Varsity, due to change in marketing contracts. But you can listen on the App State site. Just hit play, don’t choose “audio only” as that option doesn’t work.

Go to the App State Sports website and go to the GameDay site. There is a listen live button. I don’t have the answer as to why the games aren’t on Varsity anymore. It could be due to switching to PlayFly.AppfaninCAALand wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 8:07 amOne critqiue I have as someone who cant make many games and usually isnt home in the middle of the day on a Saturday to watch TV is why hasnt the App radio broadcast been on the Varsity app lately? As much as we gripe on here and talk crap to each other.....it's not near as bad as other teams forums. I just went and read the OState forum game thread..... We are tame.

1. Great win. Oregon State isnt top notch...but they are better than their record indicates...their opponents are a combined 21-2 and their offense is no joke.
2. Rushing the field was embarrasing...but remember...even App State seniors have only seen a 6-6, 8-5 and 5-6 season. We have been historically awful (at least...worst run since the early 80s)..so this was a clutch win with a hype ending. We should probably go a little easy on the kids.
3. After the last 5 years of very very poor recruiting, we dont technically have alot of reason for optimism...but the Sun Belt appears to be less brutal than usual...and with Southern Miss in the other division, we control our own destiny. Hopefully JJ is the answer and we can get back to App State football with a win vs Georgia State next week.
Go Mountaineers!

Our goals are still in front of us. Kohl is definitely the guy. Something that seems different than last season is our guys are better conditioned. At the end of the game, OSU offense seemed more gassed than our defense.AppSt12 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 8:35 am1. Great win. Kohl can’t make every throw AJ can but his decision making under pressure appears to be stronger.
He gives us the best chance to win each week based upon the skill sets.

It could have but it wasn’t a great throw. Catchable maybe but the ball was high and a bit behind him causing an awkward reach.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 8:52 amDid sun to shade impact 8 on that drop?BallantyneApp wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 7:53 amD showed out when it counted. 2 ints and a goal line stand. You’re right, Kohl did make some good decisions. Several times when we had guys in the flat or on screens that were completely covered he either threw it in the dirt or ran with it. He did throw a couple of long balls pretty much up for grabs but other than that he protected the ball. I imagine that was a point of emphasis going into the game.

Respectfully, I disagree with the opinion that Kohl is definitely the guy. He played one game (first collegiate start) so to say that the sample was large enough to make an assertion either way is premature. Based on what we saw, he was a serviceable QB. His completion % was less than 50%. He was a game manager. He played well enough to lead the offense to victory. He also benefitted from a +3 turnover margin and a defense that stood on its collective head and bent but didn’t break.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 8:43 amOur goals are still in front of us. I understand that folks are hung up on the 6 INTs and the 3 pick 6’s which is fair. But a healthy Swann moved the offense with more consistency and better results. Point being is let’s see how it plays out over the next coulple of weeks.

All fun and games until a bull rush student is face planted by a player who just lost an emotional game. Students were running by OS players as they left the field. Kuddo’s to the players for holding their emotions.
Programs should be fined for rushing the field.

Fining programs for this is stupid. Schools and their administrators can’t be held complicit in the actions of fans. It cost the kids nothing and the school has to foot the bill for thier action. You want it to stop put fences up around the field that aren’t scalable.Pikapp79 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 9:24 amAll fun and games until a bull rush student is face planted by a player who just lost an emotional game. His game management is not strong as well. He called a timeout out of a long review. Coach should have had the players huddled anticipating the possibility of the review. We had two more "lining up in the neutral zone" infractions and had another critical offsides penalty that was declined because of a great 4th down catch by their receiver.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 7:56 am4th Q play calling on the 2 drives not backed up to the end zone were awful. Our defense was really struggling to slow them down and with a 27-21 lead we got the ball three times. The third time was very late and we were really backed up so that was a little different.
But the first two he had nothing besides a draw to Dubionion. Did we gain five yards the entire fourth quarter? It’s so strange because our offense was moving it all day. Even getting a field goal on one of those two series probably puts the game away but wow he coached scared. I know Kohl was only 13/28 but he made some good passes and never really put the ball in harms way. Stark difference from Charlotte when Dowell kept looking to score. He got very lucky our defense stepped up or else this would be the story of the day imo.
Loggains strikes me as an intelligent guy so hopefully he learns and next time he calls up 3 high probability plays to get 4/5 yards a piece and seals the deal.
Epic finish and the crowd was in it to support an outstanding defensive defensive performance in the 4th quarter. The defense had great 1st and 4th quarters. Working towards putting a full game together.

Re: Oreg St at 3:30pm - Discussion
You make good points. Based on the 5 game sample, he appears to be the guy, though. Although his completion percentage was in the 50% range, there were many catchable dropped passes and where int’s were thrown previously, he threw the ball away. Moving the ball up and down the field doesn’t matter if you’re on the leadboard in the NCAA for int’s. The 3+ turnover margin was in part because he didn’t turn the ball over. But to your point, if he plays terrible against Georgia State and Coastal, that could be reason for pause.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 9:19 amRespectfully, I disagree with the opinion that Kohl is definitely the guy. Kohl sure seems to be the guy for next week.
Part of him having a +3 TO margin is him not adding to the negative. Give me a QB that may be slightly less talented but makes good decisions every time.
I’d say he’s the guy until he gives coach a reason not to be. His job to lose at this point.
