I’ve never seen such a mass exodus in my life at a home football game. That was one of the lowest points of the program.
Very true, the fans really showed their ass.
Just to be fair, if the same had happened at other schools, what percentage of those would have experienced the same reaction? Let's just reflect on the point in time of this situation, this was AFTER we got totally embarrassed at Clemson two weeks prior. The USA game was against a conference peer and it looked like we were totally out of our league like the Clemson game. How does a fan express dissatisfaction? I was completely disgusted in the product on the field at that moment. If I recall there were a lot of ex-players pissed off on social after that game as well.
To be fair, Clemson fans also left in the 1st and 2nd quarters. Most were gone by half. But they were up by 40, not down by 40

The team left before the fans did.

The team was losing 40 points to a historically inferior conference opponent on a weeknight game. Who showed their ass?
Sorry, thought I made that clear. It was the fans who walked out on the team.
So the fans caused the team to be down 42-7 after the third quarter? That was probably your family friend Shawn Clark.
That makes no sense.
You said the fans showed their ass and walked out on the team. Insinuating the fans were the reason for one of the worst losses in program history. I clarified for you that it was not the fans but your family friend. You are welcome. Nice try bud.
Well wrong again "bud". YOU are the one who is trying to tie that one together because you have a problem with SC being a friend. I never made any mention of it being the fans fault for the loss. It was the fault of SC and the players. You are just not nearly as clever as you think you are.

As rough as that was, I can think of another day at KBS that was worse: Sept 24, 2022

Somebody try and change my mind.
Oooff that was terrible as well.

For those who claim they’re not giving any money or buying season tickets anymore due to NIL and Portal - how have your fall Saturday’s in Boone changed one iota due to those two factors? The answer is none. If you truly have stopped giving etc., that’s simply a you problem, not any system. You don’t look any smarter or of any higher morality for coming to a message board and acting holier than thou because the labor finally began collecting a tiny bit on the revenue they generate.

I don’t blame anyone for not wanting to directly contribute to NIL funds, the admin takes a far too altruistic approach to that endeavor. I know I’m not going to give away my money just so the university doesn’t have to directly pay their labor, while receiving next to no incentive for doing so. But cutting off Yosef and season tickets just because you’re upset kids are collecting relatively small amounts of money for what they drive to the university says more about you than anything else.
It’s understandable to support NIL and the transfer portal — they’re now part of college athletics, and yes, players do deserve a piece of the revenue they help generate. But dismissing the concerns of longtime donors and season ticket holders as a “you problem” is reductive and misses the larger picture.

Most donors aren’t upset that players are being compensated. NIL should have always been allowed, but what we have is not NIL, and to call it that is disingenuous. It is pay for play, pure and simple. Many are frustrated with how chaotic and transactional the system has become, especially in programs that previously built success on culture, development, and loyalty. NIL and the portal didn’t just let players earn money — they fundamentally reshaped the dynamics of roster building, competition, and identity. That matters to fans who’ve invested not just money but decades of emotional support into a program they believed represented more than just a stepping stone to a paycheck.

It’s also fair for fans to question where their dollars are going. If the administration’s NIL strategy is passive or unclear, donors may feel their contributions aren't being used effectively or in alignment with the program’s long-term health. That’s not selfishness — that’s stewardship.

Criticizing people for stepping back, instead of listening to why they feel alienated, risks deepening the divide between fans, players, and programs. Dismissing their values as "holier than thou" only ensures they won't return.
