I think the more legit question is whether DBG can overtake Huesman as QB2.
Nope the future has to have experience. DBG is 2 if not one
Ideally, I agree. But if ZT gets hurt, you play the best player regardless of age.
Wondering if the fact that he didn’t get a snap this year is telling. You’d think if he looked at all competent, the staff would have gotten him into a couple games.
And LOL at “if not one.” There is zero doubt who our starting QB is.

Anyone heard anything from practice, coaches etc on David Baldwin-Griffin. One of the highest rated recruits in the past few years for App. Hoping he can take the reigns after this fall?
DBG is far from starting from what I understand. He has this off-season to improve, but I would not consider him any type of threat to push Zac next season.
I can't believe anyone would have a shot at beating out Thomas. I would say it is more likely he is in a 3-way QB battle for the starting job in 2021. I just hope he will be ready for it.

Has there been any chatter of DBG going to Mizzou? Wasn’t this Bryant’s last year of eligibility?
Mizzou already has a transfer QB eligible for 2020 who has a relationship with someone new on their offensive staff.

Why does everyone freely omit Jackson Gibbs from the discussion?is it because he is a walk on? He was #3 on the depth chart this year.

That’s why I omit him. I don’t believe he’s a legit candidate to ever start at App (barring a rash of injuries).

Baker Mayfield never started for App.

Zac Thomas....I think he’s 25 and 3 as our starter....nuff said!!!!!
Agreed, and actually, since he was knocked out of the Ga Southern game on our first series he's actually 25 and 2 as our primary QB. AND those 2 losses are an OT loss at a Top 10 P5 and a weather-impacted 3 point loss. The kid is a winner...

Now that you reminded me Baker Mayfield was once a walk-on, I revise my projection and predict Jackson Gibbs is a future Heisman winner and #1 overall pick.

That would be awesome. All kidding aside, my question was posed about his omission because he had legitimately earned the #3 spot on the depth chart. He grasped the playbook pretty quickly and showed some nice things in practice.

I’d really like to see Baldwin show out some games next year so we can see the man play, but at this point right this moment, he’s probably the 2021 QB at this moment

I haven't read anything in practice reports to suggest that he's resembled a serious contender for playing time. I think the main reason he was #3 was that we only had two scholarship QBs who weren't redshirting.
Honestly I think people got overly excited about Gibbs because he transferred from UCLA and there was initially confusion about whether he was coming as a scholarship player. Maybe I'll be proven wrong, but I just don't know of any reason to expect him to play much at this point.

ZT is a gamer. 23-3.
2018 = 11-2, ZT started 12 games, did not play at Coastal. 10-2 as starter.
2019 = 13-1, ZT started all 14 games, 13-1 as a starter.
GIVE 'EM HELL APPS!

I completely understand that the most critical position on a football team is the quarterback but when the team is successful and the current (and incumbent) QB is a wildly successful one WHY is there any discussion about either replacing him or even increased competition for the position? Can’t it simply be that the next guy waits his turn? Aren’t our results with ZT good enough? Did we lose the games he started because of his play? This is like deja vu all over again- flash back to TL days.
