This may have been said before in this thread but as for the comparisons to the legendary 2007 team we need to remember that the spread offense was still relatively new at that time. We had the perfect players to execute the spread and many opposing teams (Michigan being one of them) had not yet figured out how to effectively defend against it especially with the likes of Armanti and Dexter who were made by the Creator to play in a spread offensive scheme. And that 2007 team lost to Wofford and Georgia Southern I believe, possibly due to lingering injuries from the Michigan game but they still lost to two Southern Conf teams but thankfully had the perseverance to pull it together in the playoffs and win it all. Great teams will actually lose games and this loss was to a really good team...it's been said before but I'm still amazed that our guys are where they are in terms of the FBS transition. We have much to celebrate.

I haven't read this entire thread and I'm disappointed obviously at the result but ya know what...we're not going to win every single game especially against strong teams like UGA. Our guys are going to have bad games...it's part of sports. UGA's defense was tough tough tough and those two running backs and that freshman QB they've got are great athletes so no reason to hang our heads. UGA is probably going to be one of the better teams in the SEC this season, again no reason to hang our heads...do we have things to work on? Absolutely. Do we have a great team and program? Absolutley. I suspect we're going to see a different outcome when we face Wake, and keep in mind Wake is on an upswing compared to 5 or 10 years ago.
Isn't their QB a 4 year veteran?
We pretty much shut down their starting QB but he was taken out of the game due to a knee injury. The highly-recruited freshman QB kid came in and was free-wheeling (sometimes the backup does better because he's not carrying the burden of expectations) things and actually got lucky on a few things IMO but he sparked their offense in the 2nd quarter.
While your post is 100% true, he only played what? 6 downs? Small sample size...

I had DVR'd the game and started it after the 1st quarter was essentially over in real time but ESPN was still carrying the SC(?) game so I wasn't actually able to watch the 1st quarter since it wasn't being broadcasted on that channel. I was encouraged at the 0-0 score at the end of the 1st quarter and then that damn freshman QB starts slinging the ball around...so you're probably right it was a small sample size but I suspect that UGA is going to have a good year unless they get hit with significant injuries.

Our offense looked hopeless from the start tonight. I don't even think we had any type of game plan on that side of the ball tonight.

Have we scored more than 20 points against a P6 team since Michigan?
The play calling in the past few seasons against P5 schools has been way too conservative. Offense both last season and this season had predictable play calling and not many shots down field.
Remember it was points off Tennessee mistakes that put us ahead in that game....not our stellar offensive scheme. Having a lightning player like Armanti can disguise vanilla play calling. Having our top 3 receivers out was crucial in this game. No real (and regularly targeted) outside threat and the georgia d could sell out against the run.
