Re: Snowballs
If we would legalize pot…the student section would just get hungry and throw cheeseburgers….

A comedian once famously said “you can’t fix stupid” and I’ve taken it a step further by saying that you can’t legislate away ignorance or stupidity. You can make announcements at games, put up signs, restrict the purchase of alcohol, etc but dumb is gonna be dumb. Same as in society. Courts are full of ignorance and stupidity.

it wouldn't be funny if you'd been hit in the head/face with one of them. Some of those drunk kids should have been dealt with.boonetown1 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 9:56 pmI was at the game. Honestly, who cares. I personally didn’t care for it;but it’s not that big of a deal. Plus it was pretty funny.

I miss klondike....NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 10:00 amYou have a good point. We don't want to be like Coastal and GS.

Re: Snowballs
At JMU last year we were cursed at and flipped off from the time we started walking in, all throughout college game day, and up until we entered the App State Section. Then some of their students came and crashed in our section trying to stir up some shit. No, this doesn't justify some of our drunk ass students doing the stupid stuff, but it happens at a lot of other schools, and is not surprising to me any more. The Coastal & Ga Southern students are even up on another level.

Re: Snowballs
Agreed. I enjoyed it. I am absolutely loving the complete overreaction and whining from JMU fans. Did it go overboard when the snowballs were hitting the field during play? Yeah, but the pregame stuff was great. JMU players were egging it on, throwing them back, and even removed part of the protective netting over the tunnel…so not much they can complain about there.
It’s a rivalry game, JMU players and fans are awful, gas them up

It’s college kids and it’s the first real snow game in a while. Stop acting like this is the end of the world, or our students did something that’s never been done before.
Move on…it’s HATE WEEK.
GO APPS!!

Re: Snowballs
Our students yelling "Fuck JMU" reminds me of the way we were treated the other week at CCU and two years ago there. CCU students are as bad at the Georgia Southern students and it appears we are catching up to them pretty damn quick!!PBR1893-BEER-HAT-GUY wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 11:58 pmFunny for a second but then it got ridiculous and dangerous…especially coming off 2nd level east side…hitting fans below. I’ll go one step further…some of the students need to learn how to handle their liquor and stop being dickheads. Screaming “fuck jmu” after the game to their fans walking out is pretty low class. I mean, wtf?! Win with dignity and show respect. To me and others seems to be that a lot of these students are buying these headbanger high gravity beers and then start acting a fool. Keep your shit together or don’t drink. It’s that damn easy. And don’t come at me telling me to lighten up…we aren’t ga southern so let’s not get a reputation of being like them. I’ve partied hard in my life so I’m not being holier than thou…I just know there’s a right way to act and a wrong way…what I saw tonight from a few idiots was over the line.

Not saying it's right but that's every student section in the country. Not much creativity there and I didn't even graduate that long ago but I can still say get off my lawn I guessJTApps1 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 8:21 amI don't enjoy my six year old daughter listening to that. Guys, unfortunately our students are very similar to CCU and GS. Throwing stones after what I've seen the last decade is hypocritical.

I agree. The Clemson fans were great. The only asshole was an App State fan who told me to get out of his F'ing seat. I was on the wrong row and didn't even say, "You might be in the wrong seat", it was "Get out of my f'ing seat!!" as soon as he saw me. He left at halftime and the Clemson fans all told me he was a F'ing jerk!! He was. A total DICK!!!Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 11:22 amWe were at Clemson this year and I never heard one single person say anything derogatory about App. I’m sure every school has young jerks who can’t handle their liquor but we seem to have many that stick out. I’m also sure that even JMU has adult respectable fans who don’t lose their minds over sports and don’t yell insults or profanity at us. Agree it’s embarrassing

The CCU students came to our section in 2022 to cause problems. The usher had to call the police to move them because they were being a$$holes.87ASUgrad wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 9:14 amAt JMU last year we were cursed at and flipped off from the time we started walking in, all throughout college game day, and up until we entered the App State Section. Re: Snowballs
While we were sitting in the App. St. Section at jmu, some JMU recent grads came and sat next to us a couple of them were having some good natured fun (nothing over the line..more comical) after about 15 minutes, app St fan, kid could not have been more than 10 or 11, walk 10 to 12 rows up to near us and gave them the double deuces. My wife and I were like, what did he just do? We turned around to two different JMU fans sitting behind us and said did he do what we thought he did...they said yes. I am relaxed about these things. My wife and I started laughing and so did the JMU couple behind us. I think the laughter was more shock that a kid that young drew up the double deuces.87ASUgrad wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 9:14 amAt JMU last year we were cursed at and flipped off from the time we started walking in, all throughout college game day, and up until we entered the App State Section. Re: Snowballs
Not that it makes it right, but every school has these same issues -- App included. Always have, always will. It's just more readily available to the masses now with social media.
I make it a point to thank any opposing fan I see in KBS. I typically have a conversation with them to make sure they were well taken care of, enjoyed themselves, see if they have any questions about anything for after the game, etc. Every single time, the answer to were you treated well is something along the lines of "outside of a couple of drunk students that you see at every venue, we were treated very well! And App does a great job at keeping the drunk students at bay and away from the opposing teams. Most schools don't put any effort in to it"
So, it's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but I don't think it's any worse than it ever was in terms of per capita. You'll never be able to control 10,000 intoxicated 18-22 year olds.. but I think we do a damn good job of controlling 9,975 of them -- albeit, I do not really leave my seats once I am in KBS so maybe my section is just not THAT bad outside of your couple drunk students every now and then. But, if the anecdotal responses from opposing fans means anything, it seems to be fairly accurate.
I say all of that to say it's not always the students. I have seen my fair share of drunk alumni getting into it with opposing fans where event staff had to be called.

Re: Snowballs
The Clemson fans and students were great because we aren’t a threat to them. We get a pat on the head for showing up. The same way our fans don’t act passionate and intense when we are hosting Campbell.AppState89 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 9:46 amI agree. The Clemson fans were great.
