Apologies now being accepted!

Unread post by asu66 » Sat Nov 08, 2014 8:45 pm

Whoever started and participated in all those "Fire Satterfield" threads from weeks gone by should voluntarily step up now with their plates of crow and submit their sincere and humble apologies. Don't make us do a power search to "unmask" you. Just file up behind the reply button and admit that you were jumping the gun just a little with your predictions of almighty gloom and doom.

No, we understand the season isn't over yet, but you have to admit that the future looks a lot brighter tonight than when you were in your "accepting letters of resignation" mode.

OK, so step on up. And I'm only half kidding. :D

I still fall somewhere in the middle. I am as happy as anyone that we have won 3 in a row (2 at home), but look at WHO we beat. Even the ULM game, which was an exciting win was against a team that is now 3-6. We will know a lot more about this team after the next 2 weeks.

GO APPS!

It was me and I also admitted fault the next day or so. I was pissed after the liberty game. However, I will never bite my tongue for fear of i told you so critics. I have the right to express my opinion right or wrong. Anyone who thinks I do so flippantly don't have a clue how hard it is for me to be so harsh.

I agree 100% those of us who have been here and celebrated good times and weathered bad times have every right to vent and call for the coaches head if the shoe fits. To be honest the shoe did fit for a while this year. The players were half ass playing and the coaching sucked. Frankly we do not look like the same team that lost to Liberty. I really can't believe how far we have come. Amazing what a little confidence will do for a team. I am a proud mountaineer but then again I was a proud mountaineer after the Liberty loss too ( just not real happy).

A) You play your schedule, so i don't give a damn WHO we beat
B) ULM has played 3 SEC teams this year and they held TAMU to 21 points last week. TAMU dropped 41 on Auburn tonight

Say what you want about ULM. I saw what I saw tonight and ULM has a very good defense and our team did what it needed to get the win. Helluva game.

BTW, our O-line did not give up a single sack.

As an "I don't give a flyin' rats butt who is 'right' or 'wrong' fan"... lets focus on the players and coaches of the game. With mount'neer pride holler out GO APPS! The players and coaches provided today's win and entertaintment. Let's end the fan b-wording sessions. We merely provide the noise and ticket income. GO APPS!!!!!!!

Are you Sh!!!ting me? I was/am one of those ones! Lets look at this. Yes we have played a lot better in the the last 3. O looks good. D could not get a stop when it mattered tonite. 2ndary is horrific. Did we win, yes. probably the worst 3 teams in the conf. yes. I do think things are looking up. I do think some players are/have been weeded out. Young guys are playing, gettin reps. getting better. Coaches have to get better as well. At the half very poor clock mgmt. 1 handed sportscenter catch bailed them out. 80% run on first down, anybody guess what the play is. We have a looooooonng way to go to become what we were. am i happy tonite, yes. am i convinced this is the staff that can get it done, the jury is OUT!

App91 you are a piece of work. Based on your comments, clearly you have not paid attention to what has been happening to our football program for the last 5 yrs. You must live in an alternate reality from most of us.

I admitted my error last week and will gladly reiterate it today. This team clearly found something in themselves and are playing much better ball. I thought the teams play in liberty was an indication that SS had lost this team but i was wrong. , Perhaps all the negative talk and demoralizing loss was just what the doctor ordered to make the coaches get the most out of the players. I know the competition has been weak but im still very pleased to see some fight in this team. As long as SS can keep them fighting, ill be happy regardless of the results. Go Apps!

Still around, love the three wins. Finally I feel like the program has life again, from what I can see the post Liberty reactions were warranted, and that game is likely the catalyst for the better play. Very similar to the post WCU game from 2004, glad to see it happened the way it did. Now if we just start the past two seasons better much of this doesn't even make a sound!

I have not been on the fire Satterfield bandwagon, but have been on the fire Woody bandwagon.

At this point, all I'm gonna say is that Woody seems to have fixed whatever was going on up and through the Liberty game.

I'm happy for the streak, but if our guys were capable of playing this way on Defense all along then you have to look back and say Southern Miss, Liberty and South Alabama were winnable. To some extent even Georgia Southern. In short, we have the talent to be 7-2 right now.

But, looking at the situation realistically, the relative youth of our squad seems to be maturing at a decent clip now.

Eager to see how we do against stAte and ULL. I will be in Boone for the Idaho game. It will be nice to have a Thanksgiving weekend game again!!

Both the offense and defense changed their approach and the results are startling. At Troy you see multiple back sets, lots of motion and an offense that was no longer predictable. Also the young offensive line started blocking and suddenly the offense establishes the run and starts beating defenses. At the same time at Troy you started seeing lots of blitzing, lots of press coverage and the defense was anything but the vanilla version of past games. Also more and more contributions from the youngsters and suddenly great things are happening. Give the coaches big props for making the proper adjustments and give the players big props for executing at a much higher level.

App proved that the improvement wasn't just an illusion from beating bad teams with the win against ULM. Now they get the chance to step up once again on the road against two of the best teams in the Belt.

The future looks a lot brighter today. Now the fans need to step up as the attendance for the ULM game was very disappointing. I realize the Idaho game is on Thanksgiving weekend but do all you can to get there and support these young Apps. They have officially earned it!

Amen! I hate the pundits to claim "strength of schedule". One team cannot help it if their opponents suck. That's not the case here, just speaking in general. "SOS" is factored to only help/hurt the P5 teams i.e. bling, bling. $$$

Which is why I want this team bigger, faster, stronger so we can start knocking off some P5 teams. :D

Yesterday's win of ULM was a quality win. I really don't care what anyone says. That was the best team we've won against in quite a while (possible exception of Georgia Southern last year). Yes, our defensive secondary remains a weakness and they picked up too many 3rd and longs, but at least we weren't letting them get behind us and turning it into a quick TD. We've managed to turn several of those TDs into field goals, and that is progress!!! Those young DBs will get better in the off season, and I don't think we have a weakness there in 2015...just sayin'. I never called for anyone's firing, but I have to admit I was questioning Coach Woody after Liberty. Two very bad performances in a row with no apparent adjustments had me concerned, but I think he has responded well and I see no reason to believe he can't continue building this D.

Regarding the next two games, anyone who tries to reinforce a negative based on stAte and Louisiana is just playing smoke and mirrors. EVERYONE knew from the beginning of the season that these would be likely losses and we would be over matched physically. I think we have improved, and the potential is there for a good game....maybe an upset, but it would certainly be an upset! Neither Arkansas State nor Louisiana are playing consistently dominant football this year, but they ARE capable of it, so let's just see what happens. In order to pull of a win, we'll need some breaks and we'll need to make fewer mistakes than yesterday.

GO APPS. KEEP IT GOING!!!
