NICE WIN!!

Unread post by NDGrizz » Sun Dec 20, 2015 8:26 am

I saw you all on ESPN last night and congrats on the win and your first bowl win since you moved up to Division I football! Just to let you all know I am a fan of the Montana Grizzlies and we miss having you and Georgia Southern in I-AA!

Question is do you all like going up and playing in this level? Do you miss playing in I-AA playoffs? Sorry I don't say FCS or FBS. I was just curious so I had to come and write you all on the great win for your program!

I was kind of wondering? I know Montana for awhile was looking and who knows they still might be looking to move up. I hope they don't. I like I-AA and a chance for the playoffs/championship every year! Now to get by NDSU.....UGH toughie there

Thanks for the kind words.

To answer your question, after last night, having enjoyed the bowl experience live, I don't miss the playoffs. We had a great contingent of App fans in Montgomery and the atmosphere was electric. I hope we get to go to another next year as I would do it again!

Playoffs was fun but the bowl game was exciting.

I do which FBS would go to a playoff where every conference champ was guaranteed a place in a tourny. 12 teams with 4 byes and that would give two at-large bids for any team that was on the bubble.

16 teams would be nice as well as that would give the P5 prigs 10 spots with one for each division winner and then give the G5 one bid per conference and 1 bid left over for an at-large or indy spot. That still gives to much to the Prig5 conferences, but it would give everyone a spot to prove it on the field even if it would give an easier path for the Prig5.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

I do miss the anxiety of the playoffs but playing better teams and watching APP State grow is exciting also.
The Grizz could do a transition easily ;-)
Having Ga southern does help with the transition

Thanks, Griz fan.
I agree with FTW. I attended almost all playoff games that was App football. I recall the Nicholls State game (which we lost) in sleet coming down sideways & about 4,000 fans PACKING KBS. There is just something missing in the FCS world (with the exception of Montana Griz -- those games we played were special!)
There is just something about the bowl experience that is not there in the FCS playoffs. Montgomery absolutely rolled out the red carpet for the fans. It was Southern Hospitality at its finest. App Nation represented well. But, we are all learning, and I expect it can get even better.
Now, having said that, I do believe sooner or later, the FBS system will expand to 8 teams, then to 16 teams, then to 24 teams. That is what happened in the FCS world. So, I am glad we moved up. It was time.

Official is still around 23-24k. Would expect to see 32k for the home game vs Miami next year.

I don't miss FCS, but having opponents and rivals in our area was very nice. The bowl game was amazing and look forward to one next year. We have Univ of Miami coming to Boone next year, and I still cannot belive that. Now we gotta wait until next year, but looking forward to a great season for Mountaineer Football.

The Grizz had a great win over ND State earlier in the year! We were hoping for another in the playoffs. Good luck next year Grizz.

I agree that they will expand to 8 teams but the only teams will get auto bids will be power conferences. They have too much Money and Power to let "smaller conferences" to compete. Only team that has been successful breaking through is Boise State in terms of going to a big bowl.

I don't see it going to 16 or 24 teams. Just my opinion.

Griz fanbase is the one I have always respected the most. Class upon class. Heck if Idaho can be the "SunBelt" then so can Montana! I have to say I was one of the guys that didn't care one way or the other if we went FBS or not, but I am now 100% convinced it was the right thing to do. Even if we went 2-10, after seeing what has become of the SoCon, it WAS and IS the right move to make. G5 is kind of the present day 1-AA and the FCS is on its way to equalling D2 at some point. I hate it, but it's just the way the P5 wants it to be and the NCAA is to afraid the P5 will break away to do anything to stop it. Come on up Grizz!
