App State Shoutout on NBC's Today Show
Host Matt Lauer (Ohio Grad) mentions our win over them. And he pronounces it correctly!

Re: App State Shoutout on NBC's Today Show
Last night after getting home, the family and I went into Wal Mart in Mooresville. We were all wearing our App gear. We had 8 or 9 people congratulate us on the win and 2 others stop to talk to us about Appalachian and how the trip was. This bowl game gave us more exposure to the general public than I thought it would.

I can only speak for myself but I have had more friends and family contact me through text message or social media about this game than all of the national championship games combined. For folks who think that small bowls are meaningless, there apparently were a whole lot of eyes on this game. Great showcase for our university. Kudos to the fans that made the trip as well. It looked great and sounded even better on TV. #GoApps

I'm experiencing the same thing. I've had 7 or 8 coworkers stop by the office already today. The only game that got more attention was Michigan.wilsonappman wrote:I can only speak for myself but I have had more friends and family contact me through text message or social media about this game than all of the national championship games combined. I've experienced the same. Of course, social media is much more prevalent than it was in 2005-07, but I've had more folks acknowledge the games in conversation, as well.

I had the same thing yesterday at church. There are lots of APP grads talking about the game with my wife and me, they knew we were going but could not believe we were back already.
Even had one family who are Ohio grads say they enjoyed the game regardless who won.

I was shocked too, I was on the ESPN broadcast a couple times and I had kids I coached years ago sending texts. So yea lots of attention and people do take bowls more seriously than FCS playoffs.

Me too. I had several Gator fans and Wisconsin fans at church on Sunday approach me and tell ME how well we played and they also mentioned "I really like your coach"....... No kidding... great publicity !!!!!!!..... Never had that happen during our NC's runs....

I think that's the big bonus to playing an early bowl game. I don't now about you guys, but in years past I watched some of the early ones because I was excited about bowl season, but the holidays get in the way the closer you get to Christmas and I just burn out on watching football to watch football so I pick a select few games with teams I like a lot for one reason or the other, Navy, Penn State, Iowa, Texas A&M, then the National Championship, but I won't have any desire to see the Foster Farms Bowl or the Pinstripe Bowl.

I'm pastor of a three church United Methodist charge in SC. When I got to the churches Sunday morning, mere hours after getting home from Montgomery, I was swarmed by my church members with congratulations on the bowl win.

Watching the Miami Beach Bowl now and among their hot topics in College Football segment, they mentioned our win over Ohio. It's nice to see that the game and our team hasn't fallen into obscurity yet.
