Measuring App State Football Program

Unread post by ASU_BrewCrew » Mon Dec 21, 2015 8:20 pm

Wins, losses, and stats are what most people (myself included) measure to determine the success of a program. After what my wife and I experienced in Montgomery this past week, our success has already been defined without the win/loss column for many years. Character, morals, and humbleness are going to be our measuring stick.

We would like to give a shout out to Malachi Jones. We were hanging out at the Aviator bar on Thursday night and he came in to mingle with the fans. We spoke to him as he walked by and he stopped to chat. After only talking a couple of minutes, he said "Thank y'all for coming". As we talked and took a few pictures with him, he proceeded to thank us a second time for making the trip. What a pleasant young man. The following evening, at the pep rally, he saw us as he was walking in and hugged my wife and shook my hand and thanked us once again. We have never met or spoke with him before this week, but such a genuine and respectful young man.

Second thing is we had a nice lengthy conversation with the lady and gentleman selling souvenirs for the Camillia bowl in the Renaissance lobby. They told us they were so impressed by the App football players
they had met. Said they were so humble, down to earth, and very well mannered. No cockiness like they had
experienced with other teams in the past. To me, this speaks volumes of the administration, coaching staff,
and the type of players that are recruited. I knew this is what coach Moore expected of his players as our nephew played for him, but it is super obvious that has carried over under Satterfield's leadership.

We never attended App State and only started following and supporting the team in 08 when our nephew played. We will continue to be season ticket holders and Yosef members for the foreseeable future and damn sure proud to consider ourselves MOUNTAINEERS.

We heard the same comment from some of the locals at the Pep Rally Friday night. Proud of our guys.
