Ugh closet tar hole and ACC fans make me sick. Screw unc-ch and the rest of the ACC.
I say our marketing team makes billboards of these all over the state. Show everyone how serious we are. Talk about some major publicity. GO APPS!!

Re: NC FBS Standings -- Who Is On Top?
Did State beat anybody in the ACC with a winning record? Did they beat anybody on their schedule with a winning record? Carolina, just by the fact that they are in the ACC and their cowardly OOC schedule, was just a poser who finally was exposed.
As for the tweet, I'm afraid there will be some crow to eat next year considering our OOC schedule and our road games in conference. However, it did serve notice to the other in state schools, who continue to look down their collective noses at App, that there is a new kid in town and we stand ready to answer the bell. Just don''t continue to be a bunch of cowards and come up the mountain. You, ACC and ECU, have no excuse. Miami is coming and none of the in state schools can carry their jocks, independently or combined. (Wake, thanks for having the biggest balls of them all.) By and large, this state has had nothing but embarrassing football with the exception of one school. Come get ya some, girls.

NC FBS Standings -- Who Is On Top?
If they really thought they were superior they would schedule and crush us. They don't because it allows them to keep claiming they are.
For the record, I think NC was definitely better than us this year but for them to act like they've had some dominant program they've been torturing the state with is insanity.

Let's not demean "girls" - I can think of several names I would use but not "girls" - they (the football teams) don't deserve that high a comparison -

Nope. At our peak mid season form I think we would have beat NC State easily.ashugh wrote:Did State beat anybody in the ACC with a winning record? Maybe I am too simple minded, I honestly don't understand: :"Ha ha ha you are outmuched, you have no ACC schedule. You play in the Sun Belt."Gonzo wrote:I won't respect UNC until they lower their flags, march straight back to Chapel Hill stopping at every home they pass by to beg forgiveness for one hundred years of academic fraud, disporportional tax funding, and institutional hubris.
Do that, and I'll respect UNC, do it not, and I'll troll the Tar Heels any chance I get
.
AppOrange:"Ha ha ha you are outmuched, you have no ACC schedule. You play in the Sun Belt."
I'M NOT FINISHED!! Before we lay off the Holes, Larry Fedora must cross the field at Kidd Brewer Stadium, present himself before this message board, put his head between his legs, and kiss his own arse.
but I do dig the Braveheart reference . . .

Re: NC FBS Standings -- Who Is On Top?
No, they wouldn't. Moving to FBS did nothing to change their perception that we are a lesser school, and even if they are sure they would crush us, they won't schedule it for the same reason they haven't in the past; namely that there is very little upside to crushing us and a lot of downside.HeffnerIV wrote:If they really thought they were superior they would schedule and crush us.

Re: NC FBS Standings -- Who Is On Top?
This would make a little bit of sense if they didn't play TWO FCS schools every year! They clearly think they have something to gain by playing "lesser schools".97grad wrote:No, they wouldn't. Re: NC FBS Standings -- Who Is On Top?
I don't understand your logic. They are scheduling weak FCS teams that are much more of a guaranteed win than App would be and that they are not generally competing with for recruits.Appftw wrote:This would make a little bit of sense if they didn't play TWO FCS schools every year! UNC, Duke and NCSU all went to bowls this year.Appftw wrote:Only one FCS win counts towards bowl eligibility. They're essentially wasting that second game.

NC FBS Standings -- Who Is On Top?
I'm shakin in my black and gold boots.
The only reason I want to play (and beat) them is for the publicity. You couldn't buy that kind of publicity in NC.

Which is exactly why they don't want to play us. Even if they win that game 90% of the time (and we'd stand a better chance than that IMO) the story is the one time we beat them. There is no good publicity to be gained for UNC, NC State, or Duke by playing us. East Carolina thinks they're on that level, but they're not.

I understand what you're saying, but that doesn't exactly reinforce the "they're not scared" narrative.

Re: NC FBS Standings -- Who Is On Top?
Teams and programs are not "scared" to play us. Michigan was not scared to play us 2014, 2013 Montana, 2012 ECU, 2011 VT, FL 2010, ECU 2009, LSU 2008, these teams are not scared of us. Get off your High Horses and stop acting like the very same type of fan I have seen so many of you bash over the years. Some of you are becoming the very thing you hated or liked to hate on.
Here is my suggested options to solve all this.
A. we play all these teams head to head.
B. we join the ACC.
C. we play a full schedule of p5 teams with 3-4 being in the top 20 at some point during the year.
D. we stop trying to compare ourselves to teams that play harder schedules. Be happy that we are as successful as we are in our few years of FBS. Worry more about our 5-10 year future if Satt and company leaves. Focus on establishing ourselves in the FBS world before flopping our privates around claiming we are on par with the top tiers. Stop making comments like "they didn't play anyone" ...who did we play? Georgia state--stomped 27-16 cure bowl. Arkansas State who BEAT us and won our conference? Demolished 48-28 to LA Tech...Georgia Southern who beat bowling green 58-27 who did BG beat? a 3-9 maryland? BG beat the same Ohio team we played....BG won 62-24. We won 31-29.......
We had a great and successful season for a team barely beginning to write its FBS history. Instead of looking outward in jealousy, that many of you won't openly admit you have, lets spend more time looking inward at our own team, campus, school, town (Boone), alumni clubs and see what can be improved to continue this success that will build a strong foundation to help us succeed for decades to come. Do that and some time in the next 20 years we will be looked at as equals, rivals, and if all goes aPPsolutely perfect an invite to one of the top tier conferences in what I see as a Massive shift that I predict will happen in about 15-20 years.

NC FBS Standings -- Who Is On Top?
In other words, 'know our place.' Yes, I am envious of them. Im envious that they're given a disproportionate amount of funding. Im jealous that they've run an athletic program that would make The U blush, yet they've suffered little for it and have benefitted immeasurably while dragging our state's, and our system's, name through the mud. My God, they're running "academic" programs that would get us kicked out of the UNC system!
You're right- those other schools aren't scared. But your boys from Chapel Hill are absolutely scared to play us.
