With 3 to go in half 1, Apps trail 36-26. LR has outscored the Apps 18-0 on pts off turnovers.

It would be pretty easy to sit back and throw off on Jim Fox's frosh and soph classes due to all of the turnovers and 0-fors they've turned in so far this season; until one looks at Eaves' 1 for 8 outing last night (and a few more of his 2015-16 starts that were also train wrecks). When your star player, a senior, shoots 12.5% ...arrrrrrrrrrrgh. Well, it says volumes about how far our program has fallen since Buzz !, Houston and Buzz II.

Looks like a road win will be hard to come by this season. Hopefully the team will turn the corner by tourney time.

Two things are clear, Fox has to come out of this recruiting season with a solid post player with both height and muscle and a couple of guards who can actually handle the ball and shoot for percentage. Maybe he has the two guards with Cottrell and Good.

we need a post player that not only has the muscle and height, but one or two who can actually score/rebound in double figures consistently. We haven't that since Donte Minter transferred from UVA, then Ike Butts was ok his senior year. The best post players we ever had were undersized, but hard workers. We might have to go back to Chad McClendon in the early-mid 90's as the most consistent post player, if that's the position he played. Cedrick Holmes was more effective in the post than many of our players and he was maybe 6'4".

The interesting thing about Eaves is that I don't think he was heavily recruited out of high school, and rarely if ever saw the court under Capel. Fox comes in and he's suddenly a star. I suppose he just fits Fox's system. Of course, he has the pedigree with his dad being a former college player and coach.

I would like to see someone like Tony Searcy, he could rebound and score.

Ouch! I had the understanding from a conversation with CCobb that the tourney would be opened up this year. I never bothered to check. That's really bad news. I'm back to the real world now!

At 1-4, we're in a three-way tie for eighth place today; playing an unbeaten (4-0) A-State in Jonesboro tomorrow. That looks like 1-5 from here.

That would work. Tony was a fraction over 6-7, but had long arms, tremendously big hands, a soft touch and a legit, one-step 37" vertical. Not "MJ" but a fine, fine college player. He was unstoppable inside and he had Cremins' green light any time from 15 feet in. Still #1 all-time in single-game and single-season rebounds at ASU. H-O-F good.

Cremins had a knack for finding those type players. The guy in 6'6"-6'8" range that could jump, hold position, and play defense.

I'd be afraid he would play for one year, then transfer out to another school. Like his father. UNLESS he is like his 96-00 father.
