In addition to an off night shooting-wise, we appear to have given up too many easy buckets in the lane. They had a huge advantage in points in the paint. Of course, when you shoot poorly, you give the opposition opportunities for fast break points. We had been playing decent defense lately but last night was a setback in that area.
The level of the opposition steps up when we return home to face Lafayette and Monroe. ULL might be playing the best ball in the Belt right now.
If the season ended last night, neither of our teams would make the tournament. By the same token the men are two games out of third and the women are two out of fifth. If they can their acts together in the second half, they can get decent seeds.

IIRC, we held an advantage on points in the paint at the half, so our shooting woes did help them gain an advantage there.

That was an all-around whipping. We were out-played and out-coached all over the court. Never thought I'd say that about a Jim Fox team, but it was obvious. We were outscored in the paint 40 to 16; we were out-rebounded 47 to 31; and we were out-shot 59% to 31% in the second half after surrendering the lead. It was a miserable performance. Embarrassing!
We have more personnel needs than Fox can fill with the remaining scholarships he has to offer; or several guys are going to have find their shooting touch for next season. Some guys in the freshman and sophomore classes who were recruited for their shooting "touch" have rarely put it on display. It's high time for them to show what they've got...
