Interesting that John Bardo is the Wichita State President - he is former Chancellor of WCU - Not a fan of athletics

Yeah, but he's a fan of money, and the Koch brothers have lots of it. If they want football, guess who's getting football.

I don't think it would really be that big of a deal...they'd probably just end up in the FCS with their Ohio Valley Conference, giving them 10 teams. Unless EKU is planning an exit.

They don't even *have* to build a facility. They have an on-campus stadium that seats 31k. It was built for football as well as track and field, but has been just for track and field since they canned their football program 30 years ago. It's pretty old, but it would do the trick, especially if they were going OVC. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Cessn ... 4a!6m1!1e1

They are Missouri Valley conference members.

Good catch! They are MVC, so this wouldn't affect OVC's current situation with 9 football members. Though until now, I didn't realize how strange the setup was with the MVC and the MVC fooball conference (let's call it MVCF), formerly the Gateway Conference.

Both the MVC and the MVCF have ten members, but only five schools are members of both. Wichita State is one of four MVC schools that don't sponsor football at all (along with Bradley, Evansville and Loyola-Chicago), and MVC member Drake plays in the Pioneer League in football. So the MVCF consists of the five MVC members that do play scholly football (the two ISUs, UNI, MoSt, and SIU), plus three of the Dakota schools, Western Illinois and Youngstown State. Anyway, it's a little bit messy, but I don't see why it wouldn't work for WSU to become another of the MVC schools to also participate in the MVCF.

The MVFC and CAA football are both football-only conferences that share a name with an all-sport conference though legally they are separate entities. I think both end up using the same staff and physical offices as well.

Oh yeah..duh. Brain fart. That's still an interesting conference with a lot of clout and a lot of strong teams in it.
