Sun Belt Transition

Unread post by TheMoody1 » Fri Feb 19, 2016 8:57 pm

With the move to the Sun Belt, football is the only sport where App was moving up a division. And football seems to be the only sport where App is currently fielding competitve teams(except volleyball).Hopefully, it wont take too many more seasons to get to the level we need to be in all sports.

I know football drives the realignment bus but App needs a better all around resume if/when other conferences start looking to add schools.

Once the Fall season ends, the status of our athletic program rest at or near the bottom in Sun Belt competitions.

Track and Field in not at the bottom nor XC.

XC is a Fall sport. T&F is the exception.

Wrestling has been nationally ranked this year. Football, Wrestling, and Running seems to be our high lights.

So basically you're talking about base/soft ball and both basketballs. Golf is historically bad, but are far better now than 5 years ago. Soccer could be swinging up as well.

Regarding baseball, our coach sucks and should be gone but CC signed him to an extension before he left.

Everyone should have expected a tough transition for baseball, softball, and men's hoops. Hoops due to the mess Capel left it in, and the diamond sports due to how competitive the Sun Belt is. The SoCon would get 1 teams ranked every other year in baseball, but the Sun Belt consistently has multiple teams ranked or close to it. Two years ago ULL had a top 5 baseball and softball teams.

Football drove the move, but the entire program was stepping up from the SoCon.

Sun Belt Transition

As much as I want to pile on Jones, that's not my personality and Despite the 8-0 loss today, they weren't awfu. I determine my hope in the baseball program inning by inning.

We struck out 18 times and gave up 4 unearned runs... If that isn't awful, I don't know what is.

That said, the freshman Hardin looked decent on the mound today. Just didn't get any support from the guys in the field.

I didn't say it was rational.
